For graphical crashes and the dreaded "Application has been blocked from accessing the graphics hardware" message:
Right click the game and select the "Local Files" tab. Click "Browse Local Files". Right click and Edit "EIB.INI". Control-F to find "StartupFullscreen=True" and change it to "StartupFullscreen=False". Save the file. Brothers in Arms will now run in windowed mode without crashing.
It's not as good as Full Screen mode, but as none of the various methods I found using Google worked, it's a lot better than nothing. This fix probably would have worked on my Retail copy of BIA as well, but I bought the Steam version in an attempt to fix exactly this issue. Oh, well.
This fix also works for Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30. The only difference is that you edit "BIA.INI" instead.
