How does this work with monsters that have been upgraded by the Ascendanmachidator and then fused afterwards? Does the fused monster inherit the combined upgraded status of its components? Or does it get reset?

What is Awakening?
Awakening is the process of adding 'Stars' or 'Diamonds' to your mon in order to add up to 150 stats in each category in battle, permanently. But how do you do that? In Borious City in the top left corner is a device that lets your Mon absorb other Mon in order to rank up. A mon can only absorb the exact same Mon, not the whole evolution line. For example an Urslade can only absorb another Urslade, not a Bitum or Clawine. You also need Fusion Dust which you get randomly on each Fusion, but there also exists a Tamer Perk to help you with that.

The formula is like this:
1 Star: 1 Mon +1 Dust
2 Star: 2 Mon +2 Dust
3 Star: 3 Mon +3 Dust
4 Star: 4 Mon +4 Dust
...
The Maxium is 7 Stars or Diamonds.

Sounds like a lot of Grind, huh? Yes, but there is also help! After you finish the game and be the Champion you deserve to be, you can move to the Tomb and visit the Treasure Room. Besides a lot of Money and Crafting Materials you are also given the choice for an artifact. There is one artifact that adds +3 Stars on every Fusion!

How does that work? Here is an example using Galatryce, the space dragon:

Galatryce needs the legendary Mon Hailong aswell as Light Eletos-III. Normally you would need to catch and fuze dozens of Mon to rank up. With the artifact your Fusion results always get +3 added. This means:

Light+Light = Eletos-I 3Star
Eletos-I 3Star + Eletos-I 3Star = Eletos 2 6Star -> ((3+3) /2) +3 = 6 Star
Eletos-II 6Star + Eletos-II 6Star = Eletos-III 7 Star

Eletos-III 7 Star + Hailong 0Star = 6 Stars ((7+0)/2) +3 = 6,5 = 6 Star

We have to make Hailong atleast 1Star in order to receive a 7 Star Fusion! Keep that in mind.
