I guess the idea was multiple sources to get the same frame and if you wanted to experiment with looks you could.
I actually like being able to do that. What I don't like is that the tank slot is basically locked, I decided to make a new tank, upgrade it to lv 20 and swap it with the default one, expect I cannot (as the slot is grayed out).
I wonder if once we finish the game, we will be able to remove it from the vehicles list.
Why would you want to make a new tank? The game tells us that the slot will be unlocked after you finish the story.
I'm confused as I have like 5 frames for cars, bikes, tanks, etc and keep seeing missions that give frame buy have no use for any of that. It's hard enough to level up 1 vehicle of each category, I don't see a point at all in doing doubles.
I guess the developers wanted different loadouts for vehicles like a tank setup with armor piercing weapons against other vehicles and against monsters maybe flame ammo or whatever but in the end didn't include a resistance system to make it work or make the difference between the weapons big enough.
The engine and suspenion slots are already totally useless. For example i tried out all 4 engine types (different boost) in the races and there's nearly zero difference (1:23 - 1:25 times).
Can confirm it’s unlocked after the main story.
There's resistances though, you can increase those by installing chips and certain option gears
I like to have different builds that I can switch out for any given reason, and so that I can enjoy different paintings/dacals/pattern in general, so it's a mix of build and fashion, in a sense.
Btw when did the game tell you about the slot being unlocked? After finishing the story or at the start of the game? Because if it's the latter, I completely missed it somehow.
Awesome, t(h)anks!
It tells you when you unlock the city building mechanics.
It's lame you can get tons of frames, but blueprints are unique and behind different types of walls, like races, shops and story progression, and there's no different ways to get those.
I personally dislike both races and jumping races, but at least the former can be bruteforced, while the jumping one is a real chore to do.
Speaking of blueprints, where do you get the hover tank one (can't recall the exact name of the vehicle, sorry, it's the one the jokers boss uses)? because I just finished the final story mission and wasn't able to get any blueprints related to it, and I made sure to check every peddler and city/village. I fear that it's locked behind some stealth outposts chests, and I hate those, lol.
It is possible? I was actually never being able to do so unless I obtained the blueprints first, but it could have been some bad luck.
Vehicles drop stuff yes, it's actually the best way to get good weapons. But most engines and suspensions come from crafting. And drops are based on the enemy you defeat, so it's not that easy to get enemies for all your bot types.
I haven't found any hovertank blueprints, but you can keep farming them in hopes to get all parts to drop then you can build it.
I'm still looking for a battlebot frame but I guess it will drop at some point in the story.
