Is the Hopper a better jump bot then the jump bot?
I have just gotten it and so far with the limited gear i have at the moment for it which is just the default it seems to run faster and i think even jump higher then the the jump bot.
Also it has a rocket launcher and the only difference between the two combat wise would be that you can face and shoot in any direction with the jump bot but the hopper you gotta get the bot to face where you wanna shoot.

Have you unlocked the charge jump?
The charging and higher jump are pretty obvious when you use it.
you hear a revving up and when you let go you make really large jump that's higher then the normal jump.
Ah, I take it the actual charge jump needs to be gotten as part of the story progression? Cause I just unlocked it thru the side quest as soon as it is possible so kinda got confused by the Charge Jump mentioned in tutorial for the Hopper

I was confused as well the first time too and I can confirm that it's unlocked once you get pretty far into the game.

Once I got the hopper I never used the Jump Bot again

Jump bot is a lot easier to use because of the free swivel and the weapons just felt better in general to me.
Hopper is a lot more comfortable for ruin combat though.

I had both the hopper and the jump bot in my loadout.
Them both having a jump is redundant, but the hopper was great for running around ruins and the ships.

The jump bot just felt like the best combat mech in the game.
There is the obvious one with the weapons being on a 360 wheel that's completely independent from the legs so you can always stay on target easily while moving in any direction.

I used the automatic grenade launcher it can have for the whole game, lower range than tank canons, but rate of fire more than makes up for that, plus when you're dodging everything because you can literally run circles while staying on target, lacking range isn't a problem.

I don't remember the name, but the secondary weapon I was using on the jump bot also was a machine gun that did high damage to bots as well.

And the huge one, you can give it the "repellent shield" special mod, it absorbs all damage and makes you invincible while its active and once you take enough damage to destroy the shield it explodes in a massive damage attack to anything nearby
This means it either wiped out groups of smaller enemies, or something i liked doing was activating it during fights with boss enemies and intentionally taking hits to use the explosion for burst damage between phases.

Hopper can be useful but against enemies with seeking missiles you will feel the pain. The hopper has very limited aiming capability with it's machine gun. I learned this the hard way in the battle arena.

The Hopper feels weird for me on Mouse and Keyboard, it can't strafe and has limited fire arcs, it plays very different from the Jump bot which can 360 face where you aim while the bot legs move independently.
Hopper is small and nimble though, better for exploration.
