Raptor Steel

[Queen Memory]

I've looked into multiple guides, and it only drops during a stealth mission or from a crafter. I can't get the recipe from the crafter due to not being far enough in the story; however, I can not get further in the story because I need the steel. Any thoughts/suggestions?

Google and games that had access to a pre-release preview, I assume. Or datamining.

Don't use the 12mm burst machine gun you found in the battleship.
That pushes the minimum level to 7 or 8 and that needs raptor steel.
If you only use default parts, it will only be 5, and you can craft it with just b-grade stuff.

Advance enough in the Spino and Main quests about where you get the Second Vehicle but don't progress the Main Story after getting Vehicle 2. Just focus on Spino stuff and you will get to a point where you are requested to get it. The quest sends you to a "town" where you deal with a pair of people. Being somewhat vague to try and avoid too many spoilers.

You can also find 2 pieces at the Geiji Dragon Observation Station, which you can access as soon as you reach Talbo by backtracking, in a common chest. Since it's a common chest, I believe it should regenerate quickly, so you should be able to access it more than once. You can also get a "Car Frame" at that location, but I have no idea what it does yet. When I got it the description said something about Spino, but I haven't been able to find anything about it in Spino. However, I just arrived.

Do the quest chains in Spiro until you get the quest from the mayor to rebuild the town. You'll go to Talbo and hire on an NPC that crafts raptor steel.

Also there's a workshop at the first "junkers town" you go to near that giant ship quest. He can create raptor steel for you before you recruit the guy for the town too.

I know about this. He doesn't have the recipe because I haven't progressed the story enough.

Edit: I can not progress the story after getting the second vehicle because I have no way of getting raptor steel. I can not rebuild the town, I can not craft it in the workshop. I am beginning to worry that there is no fix for the raptor steel I used on the first vehicle and will have to restart the game entirely unless I can find somewhere that it drops from a chest/enemy/etc.

Hmm I think this unlocked for me some random time after I finished the big ship quest? 🤔
I went back to Spiro and built the jumpbot, then went back to the junkers town because of a car frame side quest nearby plus a hunter job and saw that it had unlocked.

Like I said, The Geiji Dragon Observatory has it in a chest. 2 pieces. Once you reach Spino you can still easily get there by going back to the Aro Village Ruins by just going north, and a little west.

Theres a hunter quest for the bandit diamonds boss that you get from the small junker city.
When youre walking over there there is a huge stone stepladder on right that you can up with the jumpbot. At the top is some raptor steel and if you look over the side theres a guy sitting up there and he has some chests with i think* raptor steel too :).

Some gear you want to use raises the minimum level for the mech to 7+.
Use all default parts and you don't need any of the advanced stuff.

I believe I'm completely unable to get any raptor steel due to leveling up my tank without thinking about it. As such, I believe I'm going to have to restart the entire game.

Not quite thrilled about replaying the last 9-10 hr, but it's a good game. I can forgive it.

I honestly don't think you need to restart. You might not me meeting a different requirement. I had two people unlocked for Spino before I got the Jump Bot, and I also returned a Lantern to Hugh and a Letter to Plica. I don't know if those were sub requirements, but maybe there is something to it?
