Can play other SGS games but this one refuses to start, it hangs at 10%, help!

Evening, after a few good rounds of playing as the Japanese in the Olympic scenario I have noticed that it is just near impossible to win as Japan and wanted to know if I was doing anything wrong. The AI (I play on max difficulty) chooses to go with Nagoya and this usually means I lose Hamamatsu and Port Harry at the start. Which game would be best for a first time player? I am very interested in Downfall's subject matter but don't want too be overwhelmed

I decided to purchase Glory Recalled also as I read one of the reviews where they stated it may be a better entry game to learn the system. First off, I can tell you guys put your hearts and soul into this game. Even by just skimming the surface, the great graphics really stood out. So far in the US campaign you can trigger the soviet invasion of Hokkaido by being close to Tokyo, I was thinking that perhaps for both balance and as an interesting mechanic the US player could get a card that would remove some VP but allowed the soviet Union to intervene....
