Jump seems broken

I am enjoying playing this game however whenever I am jumping the character refuses to grasp the next surface regardless of what I do, or will grab and immediately release without me releasing the buttons. I know accessibility helps with this but I enjoy the climbing mechanics otherwise and that setting turns all of that off and its a hassle to keep turning the settting off and on, anyone struggling the same or has any advice for me?

You need to release L2/R2 when jumping and then press again to grab whatever you are jumping to. Works fine for me so far.
