I invite you to check vorpX - which is a display driver that aims to turn non-VR games into VR. Obviously YMMV but in many cases, results are great.

You can use it as a 3D screen, but the VR mode is not VR.
I'd rather wait for the Unreal Engine VR injector.

I'd also like a VR version of this. If taking in views is what this game essentially is, and with the more simple cartoonish graphics, this seems optimal for VR

Climbey VR is a starting point. It does not have this rope feature, but checkpoints. There a nice custom made levels and skyboxes (Eiger North Face). Yet, graphic-wise Climbey is very old. And yes, a story like Jusant combined with a fleshed out VR climbing game would be really amazing. (And of course not meta / oculus exclusive.)
