Free Desktop Dungeons, free Rewind?

Sorry for the confusion at the moment. We're trying to sort this out. Desktop Dungeons was meant to be free when Desktop Dungeons: Rewind launched, but timings have gotten confused.

If you bought Desktop Dungeons, you will get Rewind for free. Whether it's the Desktop Dungeons: Special Edition or Desktop Dungeons, both will work and you will receive Desktop Dungeons: Rewind for free on launch.

If you claimed Desktop Dungeons for free, you will not get Desktop Dungeon: Rewind for free, Valve got back to us.

If you buy Desktop Dungeons or Desktop Dungeons: Special Edition after the launch of Desktop Dungeons: Rewind, you will not get Rewind for free. This is why we were supposed to be giving Desktop Dungeons away for free for a bit 😄

Yes, we'll make sure everyone that owned DD when Rewind launched, gets Rewind for free.

i bought desktop dungeons a years and years ago via direct and got a steam key. but now its not showing rewind as free?. ill give it time but ive owned the game on steam for years so just hoping its a time issue.

Incredibly generous to give away what is effectively a brand new game (because it's a helluva lot more than just fancying up the tiles and sound assets) to existing owners. Couldn't afford to tip much, alas, but it's probably would be about the same level of sale I'd've had to wait for if I'd had to buy it.

This isometric view probably won't be as hard to get used to as going from the old alpha to release was, back in the day, at least. :P

EDIT: Oh, yeah, it's running perfectly on Linux (Mint v21.1 "Vera", Proton Experimental), so thank you for that, too.

I only realised that the new version was free after buying it, and i already own the old DD. Anything i can do?

Um... You might be able to refund the DD:R purchase and then still have the game via the DD ownership. I'm not in any way certain about this, so would suggest contacting Valve.
