Why do some people use weak strategy battle teams

I keep fighting vs something like 8 lvl1 chars. Why do people use such teams? It's helpful to play against these teams. But do the people who use them also get some benefits out of it?

AFAIK, the only deployment cost that doesn't change because of ban list is when you're attacking in strategy battle, and last time I see ban list, it's still empty in this first week gauntlet, so, it's normal (?)

I see no point on being a Tryhard for Strategy Battle since it's a waste of Everyone's Time, specially now that New Players have to refresh between a Huge amount of Recently Dumped Unkillable Asian Whales with Maxed Operators. That's why Ranked Exists so that P2W Gigawhales can show off their Sweaty Teams and get a Stroke when Losing. It's just better to make it easier for everyone to farm points for Events and easy climb out of Efficiency. Bside's matching System though is just as Scumbag as them.

Okay so you are probably down in bronze RTA if this is occurring. If I remember correctly once you are in silver or above the bans apply. Probably so that exceedingly new players with only the one meta relevant awaken or a couple SSR do not get completely shut out because they went for building meta picks first.

But given that you can't backslide ranks before gold in RTA you'll pretty quickly get to the point where bans do indeed apply. Since you'd have to throw on purpose repeatedly when wins are essentially worth three losses down there.

Maybe I was just lucky but I've been running into a lot of JP players doing bait teams to try to ambush players that don't have strong teams. I never ran into that in Global. They'll use the duck but then have maxed out OP setups that will take you out if you don't have similar teams.

After getting hit with those nonstop I stopped doing my level 1 team with limo. If they're going to pull that crap I setup Replacer King with maxed out soldiers and Mk2. meh.

Dont search for the duck, look for the CP :)

You can't, they bait teams have a few level 1s to hide the fact they have a core group that will wipe you out if you don't have a counter for it.. So unless it's something like obvious like 5k CP, 50 or 70 k CP can have 2 or 3 OP characters that will instant wipe you and because they hide them all you see is the level 1s.

The Bait Teams just need Maxed Sigma Operator and they'll be your Worst Nightmare.

Concidering there is no downside, why creating artificial walls for others?

You can gauge if a squad is a bait squad by comparing the listed power level to the visible units. If all the visible units are level 1 normals while the power is showing 40,000 then it's almost certainly a trap.

Well, meta certainly has changed. Right now, everyone uses exactly 4 chars. Is there some bonus if you chose 4 instead of 5 or 8?

The 4 char teams apply to guys that use only lvl1 and guys that are completely op. Recently, I've been doing all my strategic battles due to the event. Btw: do you play them manually or do you use auto like me?

The weak teams in between ruin the whole idea of strategic battles. Ofc you have a point when saying that picking the correct encounter is a strategic choice. With the current meta, I only look for weak teams and auto. I might be able to defeat harder teams when tweaking my team for it, but the game discouraces it, because there is a limited amount of tickets + you cannot retry.

Btw: Do you do the npc fights too? I saw that some are needed for completing the guided missions. I was shocked then my progress was reset. 3 lvls of defeated npcs gone!

There is zero benefit to fighting strong teams in strategy battle vs weak ones. You get the same rank points and gauntlet points. Also it's heavily in favour of the attacker since bans don't apply and you can avoid playing teams that counter your comp. I'm actually surprised so much of the community decided to band together on this and make it easy for even absolute newbies to hit max rank for the weekly rewards.

The NPC progress, for some reason that only bside understands, resets on season reset. They're useful for getting all your gauntlet points if you're out of tickets and don't want to play ranked because you're at a certain reward threshold that may drop.
