Which manufacture equipment should I salvage?

So I go the first two manufacturing machines and now I can place a crusher but there's no more room. Which of the two first machines (carbonator or the other one) should I temporarely salvage to make room for the crusher?

the crusher makes gem dust and 1 other machine can turn that into the fibres you need. so salvage the 3rd. ( i keep forgetting their names so this is the best i can do sorry ) so you need to salvage the 1 that processes the biomass. but only if you no longer need products from that 1 for upgrades

After doing all my polymer for carbon fiber I recycled that machine and placed a crusher to work making gem dust since you need that in that form and its also used by the other machine to make optics.
Made extra money from copper wire and steel rods while working on the dust and contract gathering

You can get rid of the carbonator. You won't really need it for anything and the other actually can help you make a bit of money while you wait for the gem dust. I wouldn't rely on manufacturing for money though. I only use it for condensing resources since it's too slow compared to what you would make by just doing another run

Since nobody else mentioned it, I'll just add this in case others are looking for this topic. Salvaging a machine gives you back 80% of the iron used to make it, so it's really fairly simply to alternate between machines as needed, since a rebuild only takes 200kg of iron + resources from salvaging the original machine.

better question, why is there only space to build 2 machines?

2 machines because the freighter has limited space and more machine would mean more mass to push through hyperspace.

The devs have said that the mysterious barrier of mystery on board stations is going to be a production area of some sort but haven't said much about when

yeah i had seen the base station area mentioned. just didnt see a reason for only 2 on the freighter. my biggest problem is storage space. lacking for mining as i am processing and its slow all around :/

Right now use the manufacturing just for the missions and upgrades you need the manufactured materials for. Besides that it doesn't really pay anyway.
Usually you are better of just jetison the worthless stuff, most of the better minerals are worth more then what you manufacture anyway.
