1) Game lenght is 5 hours.
2) P2W pets, some features only unlockable with real money.
3) No access to new heroes in new season unless you pay / or wait 3 months.
4) It is called Torchlight, but has nothing to do with actual Torchlight series.
5) Bad, chaotic, cluterred UI.
6) Chat limitation to 50 symbols.
And no, it is definitely not better than Titan Quest, Grim Dawn, Drox 2, Diablo 3 etc, unless you compare to very bad games like free diablo infinite. And no, it's not better in terms of builds compared to many old RPGs, like King's Bounty.
1) The campaign is 5 hours. These games are about endgame.
2) The P2W pet thing has been refuted dozens of times now.
3) I'm not a fan of this but it's not the first time we've seen this model.
4) It looks and plays like a TL game. It has no story connection.
5) I don't understand the complaints about the U.I. I'm like it myself.
6) Can't comment. I don't use the chats in these games. Ever.
** (Note: You said "look at the reviews" and stated you are listing the reasons so I'm just responding to those reasons, not saying you yourself agree with them.) **
(4*) is likely due to them wanting to "make the game world their own" and the game's intro literally says it takes place +1000 years or something. Look at how fast our society has developed in 100 years, then imagine 1000. It makes sense that they wanted to do their own thing story-wise and not be tied to the original games.
In addition, this was made in the East and people over there have very different ideas about what makes sense or what is appealing in a game's story and world, and often don't realize how much that matters to a western audience.
That said the story isn't really good, but they rarely are in Asian made games, they're usually pretty cliche or simple in nature but this game is a loot-based ARPG, having a good story can help but it's all about the endgame grind at the end of the day.
Comparison-wise .. I like this better than Grim Dawn, Grim Dawn is a solid game but I'm not quite in the target audience the game was made for. I'm still playing it and I like it OK but it's not amazing.
I'd say it's better than Diablo 3, also. D3 forced you into very specific builds most of which used the same items over and over. This is more like a casual Path of Exile.
This is way better than Diablo Immortal in terms of being a F2P loot-grinder but Diablo Immortal did have some very solid gameplay that I think might very well be better than this game, but that's because the whole design goal was different.
Many get misleaded about coop, which is not in the game. Some dislike drastinc changes to economy which happened since season-1. Balance has changed a lot since last time i played 5 months ago, especially in terms of crafting and spell-casting.
I myself like game right now and all of it's current features. It deserves around 7/10 and can easely reach 8/10 if devs actually listen to negative critique. Changing title name would be also good idea (like "BadAssHeroes" did, turning into "FuryUnleashed"). Changes to UI isn't something hard to implement either.

The only thing i personally hate is fact that game spams me with 4 premium pop-ups when i turn it "on" for the first time during day. And forces to put checkmarks to "not show it today" every time. But devs are actually very greedy, after i do that and relog to game, it just generates new fresh pop-ups with different premium stuff, annoying. I won't buy anything from it even if they show thousand of popups, it's not how that works. If i have money - i don't need to get purchases reminders, i'll just spend. If i don't have money, no point to bite my ars upon every login.
There's lots of problems with the game, but I'll give it one thing, they made a very fun game play loop. It's short, visceral, and fast paced. And the loot/crafting system is one of the more enjoyable ones out there. What's even crazier is that it offers more class customization than D4 does, which blew my mind.
If they ever remove the pay for power aspect of the classes I might give them some money. But MTX stores should only ever be cosmetic or side-grades. There's clearly a lot of inspiration from PoE i just wish they had copied their MTX model.
The Gatcha-system you can almost totally avoid, as the pactspirits you get as a reward have only a minor influence on your character (I am lvl95 now and only have the 3 basic blue ones and no problems with opponents !).
For a free-to-play game I am very amazed at the quality and fun aspect of this game!!!
Im sure its decent for a phone game. People are not reviewing it on steam as a phone game because its primarily a PC game market place. They want to tap into this market, personally, id like to know if its not a good PC game, and it appears to be not a good PC game, which makes sense since its a phone game.
Im not sure why people are confused on this in 2023. Its fine people can enjoy this, however, there are far better ARPG games out there, and the reviews reflect that. Doesnt mean you cant like it, just that most didnt like it as much as you do. That shouldnt bother you. I like licorice candy, I dont get mad when people over react. I can enjoy something everyone else might not like. Also its just a game.
If you really think this game is the bees knees, and you are not playing it on a phone, i suggest you buy torchlight2, its a real ARPG game and its good, and its cheap, and it was made by the original devs (who also worked on diablo 2)
