Why such a low player count?
never played any of these b4. friend told me to check it out. cleared chapter 1 and got the achievement and it says only 4% of players got it... why do so many bail on this game? its just another grind and/or pay for things game. pretty cool too imo.

because this is a hidden gem.
it's a great arpg with a lot of helpful QoL features.
it's not pay to win but it's pay to win (more items), if you dish out thousands of dollars you can get about +50% more drops.

ohhhh ok that makes sense. thanks.
I agree, it's an actual hidden gem. Like it's pay to progress and I'm sure a lot of people may or may not like that- the thing is the season resets ever 3 months- it's an arpg. The money spend on getting turbocreep drop pets for every season is like the main focal point of the annoying part of the game. I'm new, and could give a ♥♥♥♥ less about the pets because there's so much crap in this game to have fun on and turn into a beast after you figure out all the little mechanics that allow you to get there. Devs are actually nice and hand out freebies but it's nothing like the amount of free crap you get out of gacha but it's also understandable because the playerbase isn't in the gazillions. For what it's worth, the game is truly a little gem. I found that out after trying to figure out how I was able to freeze myself in game for 3 hours and wracked my head to try and figure out why. There's just some hilarious builds you can pull out of your ass. Give a try and see if you like it :zaglol:
Torchlight Infinite really doesn't invest much into advertisement either.

This company really strikes me as a minimalist gaming company that just wants to milks its players' money every season.

Nevertheless, the game is good, but like I said, it has trash marketing and low effort from devs.
i put some time into it. the story is sooooo short and the end game is just boring as hell.. was literally falling asleep in my chair while doing the planes crap. made it to time line 4 and said f this boring crap

to be honest you play on PC till u get auto skill(activator) then on mobile its much easier to play, on mobile or controller u have auto aim like assist its easier to farm ofc u got some skills that can auto aim on pc but it doesnt work as good as on mobile for example Chinese using mobile cuz its easier to farm items/FE while braindead watching something on side

Here's the new player experience in Torchlight Infinite right now:
You spend 2 hours blasting through a really boring skippable half-story because the 2nd half seems to have just been deleted.
You get to end-game, look at the Atlas Map, see there's about 20 unexplained mechanics and you have no idea what they do.
You go to YouTube, look up a beginner guide to see what they are and the guy says to not worry about most of them and just buy x items off the Auction House to boost your damage.
You go to the Auction House and all those items are worth more FE than you've made in the last 10 hours fumbling through the game, so you look up a guide on how to make FE.
The FE making guide uses one of the 20 mechanics the beginner guide didn't explain to make their money, but they don't explain anything either and the link in the description goes to Maxroll.
But Maxroll is shut down.
Then you quit.

That's why there's no players.
The reason I left is the 'seasons' concept, which I can't get behind. There is something wrong to me with the concept of 'work hard, gain equipment, levels and so on, then have it all rendered pointless and start over'. Also not a big fan of having to buy heroes in order to use them.

now every hero is free when you play seasons

this game is ass compared to torchlight 1 and 2 with 2 being the absolute best.

While torchlight 2 is quite a different game it had alot of flaws and weird quirks such as stat requirements for weapons and str being the main stat for ranged weapons etc. This game is alot different. Better imo but torchlight 2 had its charm.

Tl,DR: This game has decent ammount of players propably mostly china + mobile tho and is very different compared to the precedecors. IMO better but its free try it yourself.
Personally I uninstalled the game after the first level had too much artsy fartsy background ♥♥♥♥ distracting me from the gameplay.
