Lost my account bc i changed SSD
I lost my HD and had to reinstall the game on the new SSD. But when i logged in, i lost all my chars and pets, like it's a brand new account. Any thoughts? My steam is already linked.

I'm not an expert but I would think it's file related.

Well I did some digging. Turns out Torchlight characters are saved to your Hard Drive.
Torchlight recommends backing up your save files before making any Hard Drive changes.

OP if your old Hard Drive is functional you can transfer the save files and have your same characters. If the old Hard Drive is toast you will have to start over unfortunately.

Cheers :)

Who fooled you into thinking the data is local? The game does not save your progress and characters, only login and auth information. If you move the game to a new hard drive, the only thing you will get is your login information. If the data were local, the game would've been hacked the day it was released, with people editing currency and items at will. The person who provided you with this rubbish has the understanding of a five-year-old kid

I'm gonna guess he did some searching and came across a torchlight 1 or torchlight 2 thread.
