Sentry Damage vs Minion Damage

In the god of machine talent tree, there's a bunch of sentry damage bonuses.

So far, I have not seen anything else in the game that effects sentry damage.

Do sentry skills gain damage from spell damage if they're labeled "spell" or do they only gain damage if you get +sentry damage? Do they count towards minion damage, or is that something else?
