What can I do in the free version? I know theres something better that I have to pay for right?

Im thinking of trying this but I know there's going to be something that I have to pay for to do everything in game, weather it be stash space, endgame, or classes locked. So whats the gotcha for this free game?

Well, this season all the characters are unlocked for free, but I doubt it will stay that way in future seasons. As for the rest, it actually is all optional, but you might find the battle pass worth buying since the character unlock alone usually pays for itself and you earn a bunch of tokens to get other stuff you might want (stash space, pact spirits, cosmetics, etc). I wouldn't sweat the stash space too hard either. There's lot of ways to earn the free currencies to unlock tabs and you realistically don't need to hang on to that much stuff. Once you have an endgame character and can farm up some Flame Elementium (FE, think "chaos orbs" from PoE), you can just buy whatever your alts might need pretty easily (for the most part). You don't have to fill up a stash with a bunch of trash.

I don't know about with a friend, but the game makes it very easy to get into the start of endgame. You can smash the campaign in just a couple hours without twink gear. Faster if you have a couple good uniques with high energy values. It's fairly alt friendly, imo.

The only things i've seen so far that i "would want" to spend money on, is the battle pass for extra auction house capacity - Inventory/bank space can be bought with earnable ingame currency.

YOU CAN dump infinite amounts of money on somewhat questionably pay to win pets? You'll >slowly< get them for free, but some pets affect your droprates pretty dramatically, from what i've seen its not like.. Lost Ark levels of advantage. I've been having a great time fully f2p both last season, and this season.

i havent been locked out of anything in game as a f2p except the new character each season, everything is doable without paying anything. you can get stashes and more inventory space with in game stuff for free, really it is just the battle pass if you want it i guess

The battle pass is worth it imo, but I wouldn't urge anyone to buy much else.
