Trauma!
New to the game and been having a blast with the Mistville thing. Kind'a cool.

Having an issue, though! So if anyone can take a sec to help me out here;

I'm kind'a wanting to put together a trauma build since my two characters have either been lightning or frost, but I don't know how to apply trauma. It says I can only apply if I have a trauma rating and trauma damage of at least 1 and tells me about reaping but not how to apply or how to reap trauma stacks!

So I've been looking; How do you apply Trauma? I saw some talents, but also some weapons have trauma stuff on them. Do I need a weapon with Trauma stats? Can I take talents to directly apply trauma? Does ailment % help apply trauma with physical attacks?

And then how do I reap once I get trauma on the boss? That's supposed to do a % of the damage dealt through trauma as a burst by consuming the trauma debuff, right? Which moves reap? Or is it a support skill?

- I'm low level and just started playing like 3 days ago, so this info interests me and I can only find people running stuff at like level 80+ showing off weird tetris puzzles and talking about running a talent tree without going into the nodes and just highlighting the two point-cost talents at the top. So any info would help, especially if the other DoT and effects are similar

Trauma is an ailment and is applied by hits. So if you don't use skills that hit like Mind Control for example you never procc Trauma. If an attack hits it has a chance to apply Trauma. You need base Trauma dmg you can get from gear because you don't procc Trauma if your base Trauma dmg is 0.

That's at least what I understod making a DoT build that isn't hitting at all ^^. I'm just 30 something hours in the game so I most likely missed a lot of things or possibly got something wrong.
On the other side the tooltips are rather obvious.

It's a little odd for me since I'm not used to hitting bleed procs in a game without the weapon or an ability saying 'apply bleed to a target' or ' x% to apply'. So do I apply Trauma with just any melee attack if I have at least 1 trauma damage? Or do I need something that says x% to apply trauma? Basically, this is what's really confusing me.

I also got a little further into the game and saw a skill add-on that has the Reap effect, so I guess that answered my second set of questions, lol. Thanks for the reply, though, @Irrelevant

There are weapons that offer "Trauma" as a stat and there are a lot of Talent nodes. As soon as you have the chance and trauma dmg you are up and running. The DoT and ailment mechanics i nthis game are rather... special. Then again it's a different take on it when everyone else make the same boring stuff.
