Torchlight: Infinite

Torchlight: Infinite

Mistville review
Hi everyone,
I am a big lover of arpg games (PoE, LE, GD, Wolcen and to some degree also D4 and Torchlight). I dont play alot, most 1-2 characters each season for Torchlight.

Now with Mistville, I most often then not feel cheated by the randomness of Mistville. The former seasons were more skill based systems. I liked them. Especially Aeterna. While Aeterna still has some randomness and luck involved in regard to get some good 2x tiles, it never punishes you too hard (of course depending on your greed hehe).

The fights in Mistville are ok, while I personally hate the slow effects from the plants, it is not something that bothers me too much. But the randomness of the revealing of mist and getting some usuable traits/old stuff is just too much. Normally i get to around day 8-12. Very few times I complete day 15. Once I didnt even get past day 2. And I spend 500 for the entry. Just WTF... The feeling of wasted time and ressources is just too much for Mist.

I really hate this mechanic

also season pact spirit is one of the worst ever imho ... literally giving you nothing for anything outside the season mechanic, should at least let you collect the entry ressources faster or make that eye drops triple or something

tbh I like it, its something different from the usual mapping so Im good with it. Ofc not the best mechanic and not the most fun one neither but its a different one and I think thats the beauty of Torchlight infinite, having the possibility of doing so many different things and at the same time being rewarded for it, no matter what the mechanic is (not like PoE where you are forced to play that one mechanic with that one build if you want to be profitable). Personally I do my mapping session and all that stuff and at the end of the day I spent my mist on the mechanic and I repeat this every day. Its fun, its rewarding, its different and that I like it
I don't get what they want to achive with this season theme. It has some Lovecraft vibes to it but outside of this it most likely trys to be some kind of roguelike with a progression system attached to it. I'm rather new to the game and I've seen worse seasonal themes in other games and I've seen better ones.
it is truly awful. it's basically a hacking minigame

It serves a purpose of something different. If you get bored of the normal game play loop you can spend some time in there.
