unsure when and where to start

So, thinking about giving torchlight Infinite a try, but not sure if I should
a) wait for the next season to come out (which I think is in about 1 month?)
b) play the preseason (seems kinda wasted if everything is gone in just 1 month)
c) start on current season (not sure if that is even worth it with another one coming soon)
So yeah, kinda lost on what to do here, would appreciate some opinions from veteran players.

Since the basic game is free to play, I would go ahead and start either the preseason or the current season with the non-premium characters.

I would also suggest trying a few different characters. This will give you a chance to see not only how well you like the game but what play style you like the best.

When the new season starts, you can then commit to your favorite character type to try for lvl 100.

Just start the current season and gain some experience with the game.

I mean, you're already overthinking it: Install, play, have fun - the mode doesnt really matter.

Yeah, like the others said, and you might earn some season rewards too, before it ends. So that might make it worth it to you, too. But IMO, that's only if you can get any Hero Tokens. That would come down to effort. If you get some of those though, it's not a waste of your time.

Hero Tokens are how you unlock "paid" characters, without paying for them. So any of those you can get, will be worth doing.

You need 100 Hero Tokens per, so the more you earn sooner, the faster you get whichever unlock(s) you want.

Note that the current season's hero cannot be bought with the tokens.

The fire wizard lady for free is super powerful in my experience

Just do a bit this season and then when the next season comes you'll have a better understanding of the mechanics
