Is real money only used for cosmetics ?
I'd like to try this game, but first I'd like to be sure :
Is the real money only used for skins/cosmetics, like in Rocket League, Fall Guys or Sea of Thieves for instance ?

If the answer is yes, I'll try the game (and I might even spend a bit of money if I really like it).
If the answer is no, I'll pass.

Thanks.

It's hardly noticeable. At most maybe 5% increase total which is like nothing. So yeah. You kinda can buy power but you also cannot. Doesn't matter.

No. U must to buy classes for real money. Theoretically, you can buy them with a special seasonal in-game currency, but it will take 6-9 months(to buy 1 class, excluding the last one added in the game, it can ONLY be purchased with real money.) for the average player, given that one season lasts 3 months. I don't remember exactly, but something like 15 dollars for each class.

Just ignore the pets. They have no significant impact on progression at all. If you're dying, it's because of your build, skills, gear, etc. - like any other arpg.

As for characters, it's not any different than league of legends or whatever. Some of the base characters are actually at the top of the leaderboards. Also, you can get characters for free in this game - and DoubleMoonkin is completely wrong here.

At the end of the day, the devs need to make money. Instead of charging money for stash tabs like Path of Exile, you can pay for characters. As far as I am concerned, stash tabs seem easily purchasable with the free currency the game gives you. Characters are also earnable in-game, and frankly you should get a free character every season with not much effort on your part. I actually got enough currency for a character and a half in season 2. So when DoubleMoonkin said it takes 6-9 months, I'm just going to say they are lying or ignorant. This statement is just wrong. Ultimately, do you trust the person who only played 23.8 hrs, or the one that played 120+?

I also want to point out that characters are sold for 980 primocryst, and shop sells exactly 980 primocryst, which is honestly way more pro-consumer than most games of this sort. The first time you purchase the 980 pack, you get a double bonus so that's like 2 characters for 20 dollars canadian, which is pretty fair seeing as that might be the only thing you ever have to buy for a 3-6 month period.

It has to be said, the pay characters are not paying for power. Some of them don't rank as highly as the free ones, and I think many people would argue that many of the pay characters are harder to play than the free ones and require more effort to make them good.

its litterally shown and proven you can beat the entire game and endgame without 1$ spent. the pets are irrelevant, and they give you so much free currency to gamble on pets. just get what you get and dont even worry. its a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ARPG. there is no pvp. and no ladder rush system.. there isnt P2W. its a fun phone game.... thats free ... nuff said

I must say I agree, the game is quite F2P-friendly, I can't complain.
The only P2W aspect is the pets, but they aren't game changers, if you're stuck on a difficulty I don't think pets will change anything, it's just a bonus.
IMO it would be better if money was 100% for cosmetics only, but it isn't a big problem and I've played almost 50 hours during the last 2 weeks !
Can't wait for the new season (I don't have enough ressources/time to get a build powerful enough to unlock T8, hopefully I'll do it next season).

I started pretty late in the season as well. I expect with 3 months time, we'll be able to chip away at it no problem. Progression is supposed to be a little easier with respect to drops in season 3 due to the new partial crafting features, which should hopefully help.
