Just play the summoner class and go for the Mecha Build. Melee = Zombies, Range = Specters (Ranged).
It's a very solid build, but nothing that impressive. It plays very smoothly and the minions are smart and aggressive, so much better than PoE Zombies.
The weapon for start is Interlocking Soul hammers in both hands. Drops from everywhere.
Pet - any summon-related with all bonuses for summon dmg / attack speed.
I've looked a million times for starter builds, and they just don't exist. There's just not enough player-made content in TLI. You're not going to find "league starters" or anything like that.
Fortunately, Moto is inherently easy, in the sense that the campaign is so trivial that you can get to 70's without any effort at all.
After that, his damage and defenses drop off significantly, and min-maxing is very difficult and expensive. Perhaps the worst part about him is the fact that the minions add so much screen clutter and make dodging projectiles from bosses nearly impossible sometimes.
