it targets based on the sinner that has the lowest max hp, this is done like other mass attacks, and primary and additional targets are chosen during slotting phase.
i assume if the chosen ally dies during combat before yisang can shoot, the ego should just not get used and remain slotted for next turn.
the other expected possibility is that if the ally dies before he can use the ego, the ego still activates, and chooses a new ally for the primary target based on the same criteria at that moment (either upon original targets death, or at the egos activation)
if its targeting a unit that dosnt meet that criteria, like you with boss don while other, relatively squishier allies are still alive, that is indeed a bug.
its possibly related to either running the targeting script wrong, or some mid-combat logic made your don the only legal target.
