Limbus Company

Limbus Company

Should I play this game?
Coming from Library of Ruina, which was a game I absolutely loved. When I heard this new entry was a gacha I was heartbroken, as I absolutely despise exploitative F2P systems (tbh I'm still angry that PM made this kind of move, which seems like a departure from the themes and messaging on their last game). But then I heard everything is grindable for free without having to necessarily roll in the gacha. How hard is it to unlock all the content without having to shell out cash for freemium? Please don't shill for PM--I'm tired of gacha game players doing mental gymnastics to justify the criminally low gacha rate system that their companies subject them to, I just want honest answers on how easy it is to grind for everything by actually just playing the game.

i made it pretty far before i even figured out how to use the gacha mechanics lmao.
i've only played a few gacha games like arknights and genshit, fgo like a billion years ago when it came out, this game barely feels anything at all like those and as far as i can tell you don't need to ever do a single pull to progress.
the gacha stuff just kinda makes the combat flashier and easier but if you don't even know how combat works or why stuff is happening the gacha mechanics literally don't matter beyond visuals.
if you like LCorp and library of ruina you should just play because it's pretty good, i like the lore, setting, and characters and it's easy to get invested in finding out what happens next or just uncovering more of the universe of PMoon!
it's free, you lose nothing from trying it right?

oh as a side note i've never spent a dime on the game and haven't like gone out of my way or anything to grind, i've just spent the currencies when i get em and played EXTREMELY casually (missed the entire like first and second season) and i've still got a really badass coolguy team fully uptied and all cool rare alt IDs of my favourite characters.
so it's very easy to play casually and get stuff.
Plot twist: It's a poise team

the only one on my team who uses poise is LCR faust
is that like frowned upon in this single player game or something? lmao i just like the funny scp series this is the first post i've even read in the community i think

So, uh, just curious, what did you decide, op?
I don't recommend it for anyone that isn't a Blind Rage Fanatical P.M. Acolyte. That's the only way you'll be able to forgive the Gacha Baiting Crap which always drags anything down. They are lucky i like the World Building and Setting. That being said, the only good thing for New Players is that you actually have a pretty Solid ID/Ego Tier List of what to bother with if they wanted to start and not suffer the Powercreep atm since you won't be swimming in Resources like Day 1 P2W Players or Day 1 F2P Players.

I suggest no... when u are already this late to the party. Like 2 seasons late. The thing is, game is very easy and fun to play if u play since the beginning which means early season 1 then you can just enjoy the game while grinding like 1-2 hrs per day to get stuffs and be done for that day alone. You can easily get everything as long as you are paying seasonal pass which is only like 12 bucks and a season usually lasts 4 months and you basically good to go.
But since you are this late, if you want to catch up fast and getting many good characters which we call "IDs", you basically have to spend a lot of money to catch up lol. That's where the truly blood sucking experience comes in to play, because stuff from the dollar shop ain't cheap at all and if you are unlucky with gacha, it's even worse.
Recommend to play normally and enjoy things slowly, for how long it will take until your collection is completed.

The game is legit free, you can make your own conclusions without losing anything

Limbus company is one of the few gacha games I can think of where being late doesn't matter. I started like, half way into season 2, and, even accounting for the time I needed to get my IDs leveled up, and to unlock the MD2 and MD2H and put together teams capable of running them, I was still able to get enough boxes to get every piece of season 2 content, and still have enough left over to grab some season 1 and standard fair IDs and egos.

The game has no FOMO. Banner characters don't go away till a season is done and even then, they'll be back sooner rather than later. That puts it heads and shoulders above pretty much every other gacha game, to the point where I'd argue that it's more of a collection building game like warframe than a gacha. You can spend money to gamble on IDs I guess, but you absolutely don't have to. The only money I spent was on the BP and I've got most of the Meta IDs, none of which came from banners.

I couldnt tell right now, the game begun pretty friendly and easy to get used to and it being free to play provided a really fun story and a lot of content. But now I do not know, the more it grows and updates the more it feels pay to win, the more you need to get the battlepass or you will have a hard time, the more you need to buy lunacy or the more you feel unrewarded. The more it grows the higher the level and the higher the farm do you need, the more resources needed and so and so. I just do not know now. If it stays the same then yea, it is becoming a pretty good game, but the greedier it gets the less inclined I feel to try and play. It feels that it just demands more and more of my money. Like with the walpurgis event. Dont got money? Wait 3 months. It feels predatory.

I disagree pretty strongly with this. The battlepass is pretty nice to have sure. I don't think $10 every 4 months is being predatory and you absolutely don't need to buy lunacy. If you play the game with any regularity at all, you should be swimming in lunacy if you don't go and blow it on every single banner.

I'm not a huge fan of how the walpurgisnacht banners are being handled, but compared to other gacha games, its so toothless, that it's hard for me to care. I mean, all I've bought were the two battle passes, and right now I'm sitting on 11.6K lunacy and 2 decaxtraction tickets. There's another decaextraction ticket in the battle pass and we're going to get events between now and then, so if you budget your lunacy correctly, there's basically no reason for you to not be able to get the walpurgisnacht characters, and this is all while still getting every new banner character via boxes.

I'm sorry, but where's the greed exactly? How many other gacha games let you get characters this easily? What exactly are your expectations here?

It's greedy if stuff vanishes forever because they use fear of missing out. Doesn't occur here.

You don't need to buy anything. You must farm more. It's inevitable.

Non-gameplay stuff can cost whatever. It's greedy if game becomes so hard you must buy gameplay stuff & those stuff cost money.
