In fact I finished season 2 with over 1000 unused shard boxes.
It is ridiculous how many of them you get for free just from doing your weekly mirror dungeon run.
I'm OK if they want to let the whales buy things they're missing to help fund the game. This is one of those rare games where you can in fact say F2P can get everything if they play enough.
Patient F2P players can just play through season 3 and shard everything they want by the end of it, if they didn't nerf the box yield.
I don't think you know what predatory means when it comes to gatcha
