[Story] Distorted Bamboo Hatted Kim fighting tips

Just putting this out there since I struggled for like 2 days as a completely new player binging through the game, hope this helps anyone who was in a similar position to me >_<

>When doing the dungeon SELECT the bleed EGO gift of Wound's Cleric. This will make getting to his stagger WAY easier. Fight both abnormalities and normal battles for the most points possible without risking your party dying, so that you can upgrade it at the end to its maximum.

>I've seen many people say this boss is a DPS check, so you practically have to defeat this guy before he hits you with a party wipeout attack. Since all turns after that; if your party dies- he HEALS WITH their HP. Do your best to stagger him ASAP and go to town from there.

>As stated for reccomended, team has to be around level 40

>*SLASH RESISTANT* TEAM!! or at the very least not weak to it. If you don't have good slash/slash resistant IDs, Use base Rodya and/or Ryoshu **(Rodya recommended for Bleed)**

>I personally clashed against all his attacks for the first two turns until I was very close to his stagger, in which I had my entire party go after his first slotted attack w/ unopposed damage. Save your strongest hits for his stagger stage since my EGOs in previous attempts did barely any damage 😭

>Another general tip is to make sure to stagger him before the 4th turn where he's able to cast a 200hp shield on himself. Restarting is a pain but desperate times call for desperate measures

>After he recovered from his first stagger, I did the similar thing of targeting all unopposed attacks to the same first attack, THEN when he tried to attack me for the last time, the bleed killed him before he could do anything LMAO 😀✨️

On my end, i struggled until suddenly, in my final attempt, I hit the first stagger threshold when he was about to use the bones skill and he never bothered to use it again for the rest of the battle (around 5 turns). None of his moves past that point had much clash power either.

being able to breeze through suddenly was nice. Not quite sure what caused him to never use it again when every other time i staggered him, he kept spamming the single target version every turn.

lucky you 😭😭 I'm happy I'm past it now but I really could gave used that luck LMAO

Could you try to solo him with some support unit? Maybe with Dieci Rodion, cause it turns out we have no Slash Ineffective tanks.

beside the shield, you have to pay attention to the counter attack with growing resentment, you either find a way to not make it trigger or you trigger it with your lowest dmg skill

if you deal with that and can drain the 200dmg shield you can easly clash with claim their bones and win with most s3, the setup is a pain tho mostly cause you need the right speed and there is some rng behind that, but if you cant dps him fast enough you dont have other options

Unfortunately couldn't bring any support to the Story dungeon :( but it could be possible if you fight him outside story ig?

i have definitely failed this rng in multiple attempts LMAO but I hope someone got lucky with that strat, and if u did- congrats! :)

going to be trying this but thank you for the guide lol T-T im getting walled by this for 2 days currently too, does not help all my best units are either blunt or slash weak

i had the same issue LOL so I had to level up base Ryoshu. But I heavily recommend level grinding for base Rodya if you're gonna go w/ the bleed strat I mentioned. I didn't but I got really lucky since I have N Corp Sinclair (despite him being weak to slash, he's my best dps- I just did my best to redirect attacks away from him if possible). I forgot to mention this, but absolutely UPTIE ur IDs ur gonna use for sure for this battle (whoever does the best damage/survives the longest) since it'll help you. Uptying base IDs will take less resources too. Just convert ID threads you get from pulling into threads and you're right as rain.

absolutely, though without the bleed bonus or effective EGOs that did around 20-30 damage, none of my IDs around level 40 could do it fast enough. I made this guide for anyone who's literally rushing through the game like I am with barely any prep-time to obtain lots of decent EGOs and IDs. i passed the stage tho, but thanks for the tip!

i struggled for like an hour on the original boss fight, but the dungeon...goodness, i retried it like 5 times before realizing i can save-scum to restart just the end boss

this boss is the longest one i've struggled with by far, 5 hours and counting so thanks for the tips!!!

i did end up putting in base rodya and it worked out for me! i also reset the dungeon until i got enough sin to spam meursalt’s ego bc i couldn’t keep up with the clashes without it, though rodya’s ego helped a lot too with some of the extra bleed it provided and doing decent damage when kim was staggered. thank u for the advice!
