If even the current rupture can reach 99 outside MD (In 3 Turn) is something strange already.
But there is rupture burst now for the new ID.
I'd take this over the 15/3 Potency/Count requirement that Devyat IDs, Fanghunt Hong Lu and LCE Yi Sang. LCE Yi Sang gets an excuse from me, due to him a Negative Sanity ID and an Unbreakable Coin ID too.
Burn is true damage. Bleed is also true damage.
Having rupture units who are count positive and with low coin counts, but sort of weak, allows the stack to get started.
Units with the 15/3 conditional can apply status effects while (ideally) remaining count neutral.
And strong units who are more count negative, (I dunno, maybe -1/-1/-2) ideally with a gloom skill, can reduce the stack to prevent it from being to overpowered while still dealing big damage. Maybe they'd have clashable counters or Dodges that apply potency. It would be like playing with dominoes.
The issue is when units like Devyat Sinclair and Fanghunt Hong Lu reduce the count but time while providing benefits which aren't that good for rupture, like defense level down.
rupture just very broken, straight up pure extra damage that POP OUT.
PM have recently been trying to fix rupture by limiting its growth past 15/3, in exchange for various "benefits", with mixed results. Devyat Rodion, & CinqSault had the no consume effect which ended up being broken when combined with talisman (as it ignored the restriction). Unfortunately ever other ID got limited to no benefit from the restriction making the 15/3 conditional largely disliked.
I can think if 2 potential way's for PM to design future rupture IDs without it becoming broken.
1. Some sort of mechanic to make rupture grow quickly, but also expire quickly; i.e. make IDs with tons of count, but make them consume double/triple the count for a small benefit once it reaches let say 40 rupture. This would lead to rupture having an ebb and flow effect, where it would slowly build up and then quickly expire in a burst of damage.
2. Make count basically unlimited, but have ID's consume potency for benefits, (this was actually how I initially thought Deathrite worked, I though it worked similar to the Enrapturing Trance fusion gift, consuming potency for count). You could take some inspiration from some recent Poise content; Poise above 20 does literally nothing by itself so a lot of recent ID/EGO/EGO gifts have had effect of spending Poise above 20 for extra effects, rupture could do something similar.
