Rest Bonus is now a Meme (Meaningless Mechanic)
The reason it existed was to encourage players to diversify their approach with mirror dungeons, however achievements now serve that same purpose without the cost of making team building more difficult. It stands to reason then that removing rest bonus would be a net positive on the game at large.

I agree instead of encentivizing me to use more identities it just restricts me to certain teams because my run will get cucked otherwise

Rest Bonus doesn't account for players who lack multiple teams right? Aka, newer players. So aside from (kinda) restricting the amount of unique teams you can run without running into rest bonus problems, it just limits the players who'd need it the most.

personally i always pick up the same 3-4 bonuses and i pretty much never had to struggle to make ends meet

dont really feel strongly about it but i guess it did lose its initial purpose, and it's still a big nuisance for new players with fewer units
Well, you can expect it to be removed at the next MD if what you say is true. If it doesn't serve the purpose it was intended for now, then surely it will be removed for the sake of limiting redundant mechanics.

It's not like it wasn't a meme at the very start, especially when Burn Teams with Glimpse of Flames rule the MD Speerdrunning Scene. Entices players to use different loadouts, an available option and bonus whenever you switch, but most loadouts only need that base 60 cost for the "Level Up per Floor Clear" and "Theme Pack Refresh +3".

Yeah, that's the big sentiment, though I'm now starting to worry about something else too that's kind of related.

PM has recently been adding IDs and EGO that have benefits associated with killing or damaging your own units. While this seems like a good idea for taking advantage of unit substitution and adding more strategic depth while making gameplay more in-line with story beats about the sinners being "disposable", that also means that the 7+th party slots won't just be unit dump slots anymore. You might actually need them going forwards. It's going to be hard to fill those slots up with good units if all of your best IDs are on recharge, worse if you haven't been playing for the game's whole lifespan.

so tldr newer player will get really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ from the scale of 5 to 10 because they lacked IDs?

Such idea is completely ignorant. Rest bonus design already account newer players.

By tempt, pressure, lure or whatever you call them to spend more to pull so they will have multiple teams for "rest bonus'.

Dunno bout that. Of all MDs, MD5 is the first time f2ps are actually disadvantaged when it comes to getting MD upgrades. I'll wait till the next MD to see if the problem stays and make my verdict then.

Yeah, it's kinda of a drag now. Although, there is a partial workaround. Like with poise team, where you can gradually swap in BL ID's while running Pierce Poise with Pequods and Full Stop, and some filler 6 ids to give you full bonus. It costs mere 100 currency to activate the team swap. Still, this will work only once, as then the other poise ids will be locked away with 1 bonus, and you need to go over again. And this workaround works, well, for whales and veterans with every ID only.

Sigh. I dread to think about new MD. How PM will twist our balls next time. If they cut the box yield - I am going.
