Does Dieci Hong Lu passive actually work?

Aside from the fact it's mostly useless, since his design encourages the "keep a defensive skill in the lower slot so you stay at 3 insight", so never getting the damage up...

I think that the "Gain +1 Insight" doesn't work. It's hard to even line it up to happen, since 3x gloom resonance isn't the easiest to achieve when Hong Lu only has 2 gloom skills of his own, and if he uses the defensive skill, then his own insight will override it when his turn comes around.

I don't think I've ever seen him gain insight between turns when the passive should have triggered.

You mostly gain it from insight trick. The gloom thing is how you're supposed to do it, but it is hard to pull off, so jut do the thing people do with Deici Rodion.

I too questioned this and yet to actually see it work. The problem is I still don’t know when exactly it should add or change insight and whether the Lu`s discarding overwrites it.

You'd need to throw together a gloom team first and foremost, that can force it to trigger, and then a team with enough discard that you can set it up to test.

Did exactly that, he gained 1 insight both when the ally discarded before and after his turn. Apparently i just never notised it in MD.
