you probably won't need to in limbus, unfortunately though PM is very bad at the new player experience and limbus feels more like its for players who have consistently been playing, such as them not bothering to renew railways or events, and i wont count the two event renewals because there's only two and they are later on. if you need help, you can ask for someone to give you their support ID, but you cant use them in mirror dungeons which is also stupid because it's also needed for the newplayer experience so they can actually get weeklies. since they are bad at the newplayer stuff, there is a chance you might not get enough lunacy or extraction tickets to pull for IDs to set yourself off from, but the cantos give a decent amount of lunacy.
You can play without having spent a single penny on it, however the path of the F2P is filled many, many grinds. Also if you've missed out on any IDs (characters) or EGOs (special attacks) that are tied to seasons and events always tend to come back (Although we might end up getting one that doesn't come back in the near future, which is the arkknights collab)
The Battle Pass gives out boxes that contain egoshards, which are items that you can use to buy any ID or EGO outright. Some of these boxes, called Nominable Egoshard Crates, let you choose which character's egoshards they contain.

On average, you need 200 boxes to get the 400 egoshards you need to get any ID outright, and the free pass gives out a little under 400 nominable boxes by the time you get to the end of the free pass. The boxes are infinitely farmable after this at a slower rate of 1 per level, or 3 per level if you're willing to buy the pass. Overall, the game is rather lenient for free to play players.

Buying the pass with the 1300 paid lunacy deal is worth it in my opinion if you're willing to make a singular purchase, but only do so after playing through the first few chapters or so to make sure that you enjoy the game.

If you want a similar though more complex game that isn't a gacha, consider buying Library of Ruina, the game before this one in the series, instead.

You should look up the two tutorial videos by Esgoo on youtube (One is called "A Better Tutorial for Limbus Company" and the other is "A Better(er) Tutorial for Limbus Company"), since they are much better at explaining how the game works compared to the ingame tutorial.

You're welcome! :btd6thumbsup:
I will also add that out of all of 'these types of games' Limbus Company has the most forgiving and free-form system of gacha I have ever seen. Many others can claim 'you can play it f2p no problem' but Limbus is the best example. You have to grind to get a variety of good teams and setups, but to beat the story or get 1 solid team is quite easy for new players(I started playing a month ago and have a decent team, plenty of exchange currency for characters I may want to unlock, and have beaten the story).

As others have said Esgoo's guide is absolutely phenomenal, but you can just hit 'auto-win' until later in chapter 4 and if you do like the game the battle-pass is 100% worth the investment in terms of value.

Edit: Also important to note the game is available on mobile too, so it is a great time killer while away from the PC. It is super easy to connect your profile between the two devices and saves your progress seamlessly.

Not needed, but makes it a lot less grindy. All that you might want to buy is the battle pass and maybe the monthly packs.
Holneer Jan 10 @ 2:36am
You don't need to buy anything, but getting the battle-pass is highly advised due to how much sh*t it provides you with.
