Let's be realistic, a major character of a canto's story surviving would be more of a plot twist than them dying. Worse, there were like 5 different conversations with Xichun going along the lines of ''Oh man I really wish we weren't enemies but we are enemies now, we are definitely going to kill each other soon.'', she's got canto I levels of death flags surrounding her already, and there's a pretty good chance we will be contributing to her death, not just witnessing it.

Even without that ominous detail given she is the ONLY one human in that family that actually genuinely cares about Baoqiu and not the Jade that he is in the eyes of the rest of the family, puts her odds of survival below 50%

I still heavily doubt she's gonna die. She didn't get an announcer that's tied to her brother's season and a lot of canto announcers that aren't the sinners has like over a 50% that ends up being marked for death. Xichun's probably gonna survive and either her or maybe another person will become the new people in charge because Hong Lu obviously isn't going to accept the title if he does somehow get first place.

It's either Xichun (I still don't wanna see her die), or Lin Daiyu (because she died in the book). If Lin Daiyu die, Xue Baochai probably has a great role on her demise.

Either way, it will gonna make Hong Lu confronting that his passiveness and nihilism do have a dire consequence. Thanks Garion/Binah.
