Limbus Company
regarding canto 7 dungeon...
i can't help but feel like it's a bit unfair, no?

feel free to skip most of next 2 paragraphs because they're just some background info. i have a debuff that forces me to create what could've been a few sentences into essays.

i've been playing limbus for the past 2 months and one of the things liked about this game was that, other than the big brother boss fight, the game always felt doable if i took passives and statuses into account rather than just brute forcing my way like heathcliff.

but...canto 7's dungeon seems to just spit on all that. i got this whip ego that makes one of my sinners take 10 bleed for some offense and defense levels. huh? and then further in the dungeon the game begins telling me whether or not the ego gifts will have drawbacks. is taking 10 bleed not a drawback??? and then after i beat the bosses (apparently horse boss was hard but it was pretty easy for me), i have now reached a wall. not even a boss, just some bloodbags and fiends...and that's not even the worst part. because right after that, there's a boss battle!

why? well, after looking around for a bit, i found out that my sinners take damage every turn if certain enemies are alive. what? it's not like canto 3 where ignoring dungeon paths punish you, nor canto 4 where not keeping track of status effects punish you, nor canto 5 where being ishmael punishes you, nor canto 6 where ignoring the emotion gimmick punishes you: i just take damage?

i've taken a hint and just restarted the dungeon because that stupid whip item is more detrimental than useful, but i still don't know what i'll do about the part i got stuck on.

so now, i ask you, dear friend: what do i do?
- i have a burn team consisting of: liu( ideal, rodion, ishmael), firefist gregor, and the best burn unit, mao ryoshu. all level 50.
- i also have mao outis and brother sinclair
- no, i do not have fluid sac (which seems to a free win based on what i've read)
- no i do not have nclair
- my only healing ego is GoT gregor, which requires 2 gloom. my only source of gloom is firefist gregor's clash counter...

...am i cooked?

I would also say that the fights in Canto 7 are poorly designed. It's like the entire dungeon seems to be based on punishing the player, even if they choose the right choice or win clashes.
Personally, I was able to get through with a Bleed team without any healing. It was painful and frustrating, but I got it done.

A few suggestions:
-Spoil yourself on what EGO gifts you can get, it can be absolutely run-ending if all your units start with bleed. Avoid bad EGO gifts like the plague.

-Feel free to take a friend's support unit at every checkpoint. I believe you can change which support unit you use at each checkpoint as well.

-If you have bad RNG, you can just give up the fight to restart it. Helps against those concurrent battles with flowers that deal damage at the start of the turn. If things take a turn for the worse, just retry until you get a better result.
One way I beat the Bloodbags was by spamming E.G.O.s. For me, the Bloodbags were way harder than the Trio, Sancho, or Don Quixote.

I say it first good dungeon.

This is a dungeon that open your strat more than canto 5 or canto 6.

I would say it a little more high skill ceiling and less rng.

Canto 6 It more rng and more unfair.
Base on my experience doing a base sinner run.

Canto 7 is more difficult and prob need a good understanding.
You can first try it using base sinner like bread and butter.

The reason is mostly because of the unbreakable.

The most mistake I see is you won the clash but you forgot the one clashing it gonna stagger cause you did not pay attention.

Most people just clash it using high speed and end up stagger cause you control the boss to stagger that sinner.

Or

The order of which one to clash.
Which alot of people kinda don't understand how important is that.

Overall, it not unfair but need to understand your mechanics more.
Else you have a way harder time.

update:

i have beaten the stage!

i took advice (somewhat) and got a fire faust with fluid sac, but she died before i even got to the stage i was stuck on (i bet you'd never guess why). what really helped was not getting that stupid whip ego (i hope i never lay eyes on that thing again)

If you mean Ardor Blossom Star, she kills herself if she uses SKILLs 3 at 23 BURN Potency. Avoid it.

the biggest thing I really don't like about canto 7 is..... Unbreakables(duh)
Unbreakable is fine on its own but they decide to slap
AOE (now you have to clash the boss and make sure your other sinner didn't get 8-10 bleed stack slapped
The bleed application (I get the theme of this canto is literally vampire and blood but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ does getting hit with unbreakable and it still apply bleed is pure pain, add in the AOE and it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥)

I would say it abuse the mechanics of bleed quite well by using the lower stagger threshold to stagger you.

Quite a common strat for us tbh.

Like Kim have a hp gate with 40% and if you defend most of the attack.
And let him bleed.

Hp will go pass the stagger threshold and it use it super AOE attack.

Next Turn
One sided first attack, Staggered.
Making it stagger for 2 Turn (This turn and next turn) and MAX stagger dmg.

Doing more dmg by skipping a turn for a big payoff.

It just abusing a mech we already know.

The only difference is the boss use it on us.

We have strat like Counter (both counter) which don't reduce bleed and just keep hitting the enemy.

We have to get stagger from the AOE first and then stagger the boss next turn to remove stagger threshold. (And also free turn recovering)

Or get so much bleed that you cancel all the boss attack for dying which give you a free turn.

Well as annoying as it is, it a good use of strategy by turning the bad to a good.

Prefect to showcase how every bad can very easily be turn around to your advantage.

And by apply of what we know of bleed that the stagger trigger as long as you are hit below the threshold.

We should make the unbreakable AOE last.

As if we clash with it first, we will get one sided in the stagger state. Making your sinner die way way too fast.

Overall, canto 7 is good except the 5% hp lose battle.
Doing this with base sinner is more fun than you think.

Canto 6 however, it what I would say Unfair unless if you do have at least 1 Sinking 000 ID.

you will see how bad it is when you restart 50 times cause 45 SP boss and Heathcliff lose SP every time and targetting Heathcliff everytime.

It hell.
