Limbus Company
Do identities get referenced in world?
For context I'm still quite new to the game and the world in general. I was wandering if the identity system is ever mentioned in universe. It would make sense why there wouldn't be a in game acknowledgement of it, but it would be interesting if there is.

Later in the game you encounter an enemy that smacks the ID out of a Sinner reverting them back to default, so yeah identities is canon.

im getting PTSD please dont remind me of that
Project Moon doesn't do ludonarrative dissonance. In all their games, everything you see is canon, including any weird game quirks like HUD or levels. (except endings; only the true ending is canon per game...though, with Limbus introducing mirror worlds, perhaps that's no longer the case now)
Identities are indeed canon, if I recall correctly one of the mini-story (Walpurgis 2 if I recall correctly) showcases how the IDs work for the Sinners more indepth.

you might be thinking of Walpurg 1, that one mentions Identity cards, that Dante pulls them out of Mephi's engine, and that their PDA has slots to put the cards into, as well as the mention of the LCB's activities expanding the range that can be extracted, so the gradual addition of new banners is also cannon.
