Limbus Company

Limbus Company

What is a Golden Bough?
Is there much lore regarding what it is?

According to wikipedia it is this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Golden_Bough.

Also this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Golden_Bough_(mythology)

According to Encylopaedia Brittanica it is this: https://www.britannica.com/topic/The-Golden-Bough

Edit: This is a good page regarding this https://everything.explained.today/The_Golden_Bough/

Does the Golden Bough of Limbus have any reference or meaning to the one in the classics literary sense?

Or is it just a story doodad as some reason why the odyssey exists?

Does the Odyssey have a purpose?

Any lore information, would be helpful.

Thank you,

Tbh, I created this thread as I was curious about the game lore. It's derailing quite a bit...
Lore wise we have jack, so the next best thing is to try and guess what do the boughs reference (if anything at all) and try to extrapolate it into the limbus plot.

True. I hope PM flesh out more of the Lore, as it can be quite facinating

I can't...

this guy really thinks PM named the golden bough after a random publishing company...

instead of it being a reference to the Aeneid, written by Virgil, who is also a character who guides Dante in The Divine Comedy...

Okay you win.

Can't it be both? I figure they used Aeneid and then were like, it's also a cool reference, and went with it anyway.
Too bad, but that means on top of having to read all of Yi Sang's Poems, Goethe's Faust, Don Quixote de la Mancha, Hell Screen, The Stranger, Dream of the Red Chamber, Wuthering Heights, Moby-♥♥♥♥, Crime and Punishment, The Divine Comedy (Inferno, Purgatorio, Paradiso), Demian: The Story of Emil Sinclair's Youth, The Odyssey, and The Metamorphosis, you'll have to read Dragon Raja and The Bird That Drinks Tears otherwise you're not going to be a real Limbus Company player.

Not enough. You must use all of Seoul Metropolitan Subway, read all of Park Taewon Gubo's works, Yoo Chijin Dongrang's works, Alphonse Daudet Alfonso's works, Ernest Hemingway's works, especially The Old Man and the Sea, et cetera.
