you miss out on some BP progress if you dont clear the boss
i wouldnt say its worthwhile for a new player to attempt it, especially if you dont have a coherent team comp at lvl 40 and UT4
There's also a reduction in Starlight gained, but overall it's more worth doing a Hard MD and stopping when entering floor 5, then slogging through 3 normal dungeons (for the weekly bonus, anyway).
Not worth doing Hard MDs without a severely overpowered team anyway (ussually by running a specific gimmick and a fusion Gift that gives extreme bonuses). Though only really tolerable to do with a Bloody Mist setup going.
(I mean, damn, +2 Coin Power, +100% damage, AND a lot of bleed? Sign me up! It basically puts you at equal footing with the floor 5 enemies/boss if you didn't give them too much +Power buffs.)
Then again I've always played a lot of absolute resonance teams even before it was cool. So maybe I just negated the main difference in strength from the start.

Best part, he's actually too scared and will make excuses if you challenge him or bet with him, mental issue be like that, mate.
no idea why the battle pass points change based on if you finish floor 4 or 5 before collecting the weekly tho, theoretically it should be the same since mirror hard stupidly gives the same bp point rewards, for fully completing it, as normal without the weekly involved
What is bloody mist? Is it one of those fusions that get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over by RNG? Someone actually makes a strategy around those? Like, how? They picked boons that give increased ego gift number and ego gift lvl in bleed and then the boon that allows to pick 2 at the start? Then just restart until you finally get 2 parts for bloody mist? Tbh, it's just more convenient to run a poise team and slap a nebulizer on them, ol'reliable, it's almost always in the intial gift pool.
Not really an issue if you run multiple teams (4 in my case), just run whichever team gets their combined gift ready, except for Charge because their combined gift sux ass.
I'm no expert on the Nebula/etc items, but it doesn't strike me as if they match up in power. Bloody Mist litterally boosts your rolls to be the equivalent of 16/20/24 with your S1 to S3's. I've ran entire Hard Mode dungeons without ever needing to use E.G.O attacks because of that insane power.
And the x2 damage boost is also very welcome to reduce the utter bloated HP grind that is doing the dungeon with any other kind of team. Heck, Bloody Mist is so overpowered, the enemies don't even have time to bleed out to death. It's an easy turn 1-2 win. Nothing even appears to come close.

As for Hard being beatable without cheesy E.G.O gifts... Probably... Maybe. Once a blue moon or if you commit to it and reset 50+ times total in a run that (due to resets) takes atleast 1.5 hours or much more.
The main argument is that it isn't worth it. It takes forever. PM just wastes your time with shoddy enemy "design" they didn't even deign to actually design. They just slapped in some enemies, didn't bother to check if they wouldn't be too strong due to natural rolls, and added immense +bonuses onto them from the dungeon.
They didn't even flinch at the idea of giving enemies a blanket +x power or +??% damage reduction/+% health and making combat last twice if not thrice as long as MD2H (season 2's Hard MD - which actually was fair).
Just look at any Chapter 5 encounter. Bloody mermaids able to roll casual 16's, Pequod Crew able to roll 25+'s and denying use of any E.G.O besides HE/WAW, and now also TCTB event enemies whose miniboss can instakill Sinners with his counter (which would've been fair in a Focus battle where you can simply dodge and avoid triggering it).
It takes Bloody Mist just to have EQUAL ROLL POWER TO THE FLOOR 5 BOSS. Just like the MD2H days where you had to save your high rollers to meet the boss' stronger attacks, or use E.G.O if caught off-guard.
Hm, well anyway, if that wasn't convincing enough that MD3H isn't worth clearing without Bloody Mist, I don't know what would be. Heh, 15 minutes my ass. It'll take another half hour, minimally.
(Assuming you don't get caught in a nigh-unbeatable node on floor 5 like Elite-Pierce or Event-Elite-Slash, ending your run early anyway.)
Its not that hard and doesnt take nearly as long
