I hate Ishmael so much for me tell you how much I hate her my hate for this fictional character is long and wide as her hair. I hope something bad that Dante can't fix happens to her like emotional trauma or distortion. And her WAW EGO is so ugly, stupid, worse compared to Yi Sang's EGO, and AGAIN STUPID. I hate Ishmael so much but there are these PSYOPS that like Ishmael for some reason I dunno how you can like such a dislikable and boring character like Ishmael, STUPID AND DUMB ISHMAEL... I hope this thread will bring a spotlight to the very sensible Ryoshu lovers', Meursault lovers', Dongrang Haters, Yi Sang lovers', and most importantly Ishmael haters' WHO VERY HATE, HATE, HATE ISHMAEL. TELL US WHY YOU HATE ISHMAEL. AND TO ALL THOSE ISHMAEL LOVERS READING THIS THREAD REMEMBER THAT THE FAULT LIES WITHIN YOU, YOU'RE THE REASON WE ALL HATE HER!!!!!!1111!!!!

this is a real, real, real, real Ishmael hate thread. This is thread is to mainly to hate on Ishmael for how bland, dumb, annoying she can get; like trying to kill Smee to the point of Dante stepping in because she isn't thinking straight or being a better edgelord than Yi Sang. And an unrealistic character; I've never seen a person that acts like this, "BLAH, BLAH, BLAH WE'VE COME TO FAR FOR THE GOLDEN APPLE SO WE GOTTA HUNT THE BIG FEESH THAT ATE IT" when 5 minutes ago they were like "OOO noo I gotta man handle my trauma like the rest of us", stupid dunce. Although Heathcliff has an IQ of a tarantula he acts like a real person that would have that IQ. Unlike Ishmael who has the IQ of a skinwalker who is trying to act like a real person.

I agree on her being way too much of an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ during the entirety of the canto V but I wouldn't call her a "bland" character. Just because she's not as crazy as don or edgy as ryoshu doesn't make her character bland. If you actually want to see bland and boring characters Yi Sang and Faust are there to behold. Faust literally only exists to dump exposition on you and yi sang is faust but male with slightly less screentime so he isn't as annoying.

I heavily disagree that Yi Sang is a bland character, he was by far the most saddest character and with the best canto I've ever seen and him being connected to the league of nine and having connections to multiple characters added much more need depth to the character unlike Faust who is just there because new players needed to be explained why a thing is like that and that. And then there is Ishmael who can do nothing but throw insults at anyone she can and get angry for the most stupid things possible in her canto, Sinclair being mad psycho at the Nagel Und Hammer folks were alot reasonable and believable than whatever she is mad at.

If we're diving deeper into the characters I'd say Yi Sang just got better treatment because of the Korean bias. Since the character was korean just like the studio they just paid more attention to his canto and tried to make it better than the rest. And I'd accept him being so over life and gloomy about the league and his connections if the rest 6 members of the league didn't straight up get ignored. Only his connections with dongbaek and dongrang were explored and the canto was still way too long with just that so I'm glad they didn't include the rest of the league.

As for ishmael she is just nervous. She's literally headed to a place where she spent a good portion of her time in during which every second she had to fight for her life to not get eaten and turned into some abomination mermaid. She's heading to the great lake where she lost everyone she cared about because of someone else's blind obsession. Someone who she is sure still alive and waiting for her to kill. With all that stress and anger building up it's only natural for her to burst out at idiot sinners stalling the plan like sinclair's cowardice and heathcliff's idiocity stealing those damn coupons. Everyone reacts differently to stress and nervousness. Some people breakdown and cry like sinclair and some people get unreasonably angry like ishmael. You can call her attitude toward others during canto V anything except unjustified.

He actually makes it clear that Ahab is bad because she is a gas lighter, like in the book. But in the book you can see she is truly the embodiment of evil due to various other factors, not just the gaslighting alone.

First, Book Ahab is arrogant and thinks she is above God (She even strike the sun if it insults her, in the book. Mersault has a competitor here.
Second, she bears deep hatred of the Whale because it took her leg (our Ahab lost her leg, but the game did not tell why).
Third, Starbuck and others are against confronting the Whale and just want to do what they are supposed to do. Starbuck even clashes with Ahab multiple times (the game only describes it in 1 line in the boss battle).
Finally, she is aware that she is mad, but is still obsessed with the Whale, regardless.

With these 4 we can see that Ahab is bad. But the Canto is rushed so we have some funny scenes with the Pirate and the Middle so my opinion about the Canto is an 'ok'. I hate when the Chekov Gun rules are violated like this.

Canto 3 is the best, tbh.
