You can also Overclock EGOs and use the corroded versions by holding LMB on them in battle, doing so makes them not target allies but they still target randomly.
Corrosions of EGOs are usually stronger they roll higher or have better effects most of the time but they also cost more sanity and resources to use.
Reading the fine print can be worthwhile when deciding whether you want to risk Corrosion or not.

Screwloose Wallop's corrosion effect can still be targetted properly. But it increases the Surgery stacks, meaning less health, and closer to death for Mersault.
Specifically Don Quixote's Telepole also remains targetting enemies. But it has a hefty Rupture effect on her allies for using it, in exchange for a guaranteed 10 charge across the party. Don't need to worry about Fragile if you don't get hit, right?
