Does placement (position) of Sinners matter?
Does the position of a Sinner matter in a battle at all? It seems to be the order you select your team that gives a certain positioning in battle.

Is there any effect to this or is it purely cosmetic where they are on the field?

I.e. do you need to put tanks on the frontline etc, like any other positional strategy RPG etc?

Though as far as attacks and Speed rolls go, it is possible that a "first come first serve" basis is taken when two sinners have the same Speed roll and leap towards the same enemy, which makes it more likely the Sinner who was placed more forward more often then not takes priority upon touching the enemy.

(Like the oldschool Library of Ruina days where if you could "intercept" enemies before the Speed system changes rendered units to attack until it was time for units with X speed to take their turns attacking. Kind of making "formations" actually useful briefly.)

I'm not 100% sure how the game handles units having the same Speed, either:
1 - First come first serve. Or...
2 - There's internal logic that determines the turn order of things.

---

But I suppose with the whole Speed think I'm veering a bit off-topic, huh... But yeah, formation is just a harmless visual detail. Just focus on winning clashes, blocking/dodging/etc, I guess.

Cool, thanks for your reply. I was thinking when I was selecting my Railway team when the order I selected them in the team manager, would it affect or improve the battle depending on where they stood.

The pre combat choosing of sinners only matters for the order of Extra Skill slots

Only for Human battles(non abno fights)

It depends. For Railway I don't think it matters. For abnormality fights, doesn't matter.

For human fights, where you gain +1 slot every turn (up to 10), it does matter.

For example: for exp luxcavation, you have to pick 5 sinners.

The sinner in the '1' position (on the pre-battle screen) will gain another skill slot starting on turn 2.
The sinner in the '2' position will gain another skill slot starting on turn 3.
The sinner in the '3' position will... well, you get the idea.

Oh cool, I didn't know that about the Luxcavations. I don't run them often, I'm too lazy and usually autoresolve them :)
