How to efficiently use E.G.O shards?

We're two weeks off from Season 3 iirc, so that made me question how exactly is efficient to waste shards and boxes as a F2P? On one side it's reasonable to upgrade stuff you want, so you won't lose on shard halving, but on the other side, if I have 400 shard of sinner, but no stuff I NEED to waste it on, if I don't waste it, I got to keep 200 for next season, right? And, well, is it actually good? Same for the boxes. I got 1k, but, like, almost to none things I really want? So would I let half of my boxes die and turn into threads for T5, or no? Both options seems dubious, since it's either me losing on half of resources for crafting sinners or crafting stuff I don't have, but going into Season 3 with empty hands, which could result in missing some cool stuff.

Certainly dont touch your boxes. As for the shards, unless PM will release new ID for that sinners you can uptie some people to 4, but only if you realy need (or want) it. Also the season change thread conversion rounds up, so you can make all shards and boxes an odd number.

Ok, I did some math on it, and that's what I came up with.
If you got 400 E.G.O shards of the sinner, after halving you will end up with 200.
200 shards is 200 threads, and if you get 27 threads per day through skipped lux, you can get that thread in roughly 7 days
But to get 200 shards you need roughly 100 boxes, and to get 100 boxes you need 3 weeks, since you get roughly 30 boxes per week.
With crates it's even worse. As en example I got 1200 crates, and if I let half of them die, I get roughly 1200 threads. To get 1200 threads you need half an month, but to get 600 crates you lost, you need 5 month.
The worst thing is, is that with new thread lux, those numbers will become even more distant, so you definitely SHOULDN'T keep an excess of boxes/E.G.O shards while going through seasons, because in that case, you will lost much more, than halving gives you.

Simply put, spend em or lose em.

If there's anything to buy with them, do it now. Hoard your Lunacy (and Tickets) and don't spend it, spend Boxes instead. Or that seems like the logical stance to take henceforth if anything releases at this stage before the next "season". (Or if you have stuff left in the Dispenser to buy.)

My thought is to spend them --- I'll get IDs/EGOs that will be taken out of the dispenser first, then stuff from the first BP that can't be gotten other ways. During the week leading to the conversion, I'll convert all the crates I got to shards as I need them.

Sure, you can keep it all and go through the halving, you're not losing anything per se (Unless you need shards more than thread). The way I see it, any resources earned now will get easier to earn as the game progresses --- any currency you keep isn't gaining any value as time goes on.

Use them for anything you need then save the rest. They become strands of Thread which you need. Yes. Yes. Yes.

I'm going to save my boxes until the end, just in case they pull a "Surprise, Farmwatch ID!" at the last minute, but if not, then at the last minute I'll open boxes to get the last ID I haven't gotten yet.

And after that... I dunno. Maybe look at what IDs I'll want to UT4, and ensure I have 100 of each character so I can still UT4 after season 3 hits.

Hold it until the last few days and dispense whatever nice stuff you still dont have before season end.

No need to overthink it really, if you can get that many boxes/shards you'll be able to get just as many next season. If you like something, use it. Otherwise, save it. So far they're generous enough that it's possible to get practically all the nice IDs without having to pay for anything.

If you post what you're missing we can tell you what is subjectively worth sharding.

But if you have all the meta stuff, I would just let it rollover... 1k -> 500 boxes will let you shard like 3 ids/egos right out of the gate, pretty good.

If there is nothing you care about in the current dispenser and you don't care about collection, just don't spend them. Some IDs may became meta but there is not way to predict this. There also chance that the new season have IDs that you are more interested with.

If you care about collection: Limited Event ID or EGO > EGOs > IDs.

Spending shard for uptie 4 is mostly a question if you want to play with that IDs/EGOs and if you want to build a team around it. There is not point of uptie 4 something you don't plan to use outside of some stupid challenge or simping reason. Of course there are IDs and EGO that aren't worthy to uptie 4 but you can simply ignore them for now.

While halving the shards for thread is painful and it's a bad trade as free2play, it's not a painful as salving resources to gacha for something that you don't get at end.

I just remember that during Season 2 I rolled on only two ID's, them being Dieci Rodion and W Ryoshu, so now I'm much more sceptic about saving for later not gonna lie

I'll just keep farming boxes and on the last couple days get the ID's I don't have and if possible extract enough shards to UT4 everything, after that I'll just check how much thread I'll end up with and go as needed, since i have almost 2.5k boxes

If you're going to spend them, now is the time. not that it's a big deal 'cause thanks to T4 Thread is in high demand, so "lost" boxes and shards are going to be providing decent value anyway.

Then you get those 1200 threads just after a month of skipping 3 lux everyday. And thing is, crates and shards are much harder to get, so even if you don't need ID/E.G.O now, it's still better to craft it, since otherwise you just get laughable amount of threads instead of ID's, which, who knows, may get awesome T5, or new ID's/E.G.O's that synergize them

I feel like you're grasping at straws the moment you start wildly speculating about T5 as if it had been announced for the next patch. When you're talking mechanics multiple seasons away in the context of something to do in the next few weeks you're getting pretty tinfoil hat.
