Despite the horrors of non-first class, it's still not enough to make the majority of people distort. Considering that they're still the fastest way to move around the city, I'm also not sure how much people would care.

WARP crew is still alive by the way.

they have thousands of year to live. and all of them have emotional impact for it. so they go crazy.

warp crew now aviable at the moment as they are scattered across city.

some distortion can be aleph level so they may not open the train....

I think it Ruina starts about a year after the White Nights and Dark Days at the end of Lob Corp, and it doesn't sound like the Cleanup crew had to deal with any distortions in that time. Perhaps they just mistook them for the usual "zombies" they had to fight and were just lucky they didn't encounter anything too dangerous?

I don't think the Cleanup crew that went to the library was all of them, at most it would have been only one station's worth. Also the half a year between the ending of Ruina and Limbus is more than enough time to locate their missing staff.

Going crazy isn't enough to make people distort. In fact, the amount of time they spend in the other dimension probably helps prevent them from distorting because they simply adapt to the situation after a long period of time.

During the events of LoR the only known Distorted passengers were that way before boarding the train, so that's pretty substantial evidence that W-Trains don't trigger Distortion.

Preface: I haven't read Distortion Detective yet, nor finished all of Ruina, but from what I've seen Distortions are triggered by a sudden, extremely strong emotional reaction.

The horrors of a WARP train are likely too long and drawn out to properly trigger a Distortion; people get acclimatized to the fast and furious swan boat before they can experience the proper emotional shock to trigger one.

That's not to say W Corp isn't in trouble, though. Lobotomy Corporation provided power to the entire city, and there's definitely a (literal) power struggle brewing without them..

Distortion/EGO manifestation are triggered by extreme emotions as others said. It's not something like you'll suddenly do it by sitting here and there being depressed or despaired.

It needs to be something that shakes your core value or crushes your ideal heavily, to the point that makes you dive deep into your very being and then either lose yourself to become distortion or overcome the hurdle and manifest EGO.

Like how in LoR, Yan distorted because his ideal and world understanding are completely destroyed. He thought he had free will and that he was choosing to do things on his own mind, only to be realized he and the entirety of his surroundings were just puppets all along.

Or Xiao manifested EGO by realizing she has been too obsessed with revenge to the point of losing all those she held dear. Decided to overcome the grief and gain power to crush us with serene mind.

All those floor realizations were the same, forcing librarians to overcome stuff related to their past and ideals in order to gain more power.

To add on more to the latter,it's not just about losing everyone dear either. She broke one of the big unspoken rules of being a fixer, but kept it under wraps (though not very well). She then started to throw that all away and nearly broke her promise to Lowell mentioned in his page story until Miris snapped her out of it.

Distorting isn't the same as having a mental breakdown and going insane, even though it looks the same. Pretty much everyone on the train becomes brain dead by the time it pulls into the station.
Distortions are tricky as we don't know the full reason behind them. They were around before lobo such as blood drinkers have been sucking around for a while. I think cause the of the frozen space bubble that happens in the train, it might not truly be in the effect range of what allows a person to distort. Considering that people starting distorting more due to are "wonderful" angel time being stopped might have meant she couldn't tempt people which would explain why at most the dangers of the train are people mashed together or kingdoms that are made. My guess one a while a on the edge of distorted person enters and causes trouble just before they get time locked
