Why not implement EGO Shard Exchange?

I have seen many complain about the half EGO Shard notice we got and honestly... Yeah I am also pretty upset at it.

I started the game recently and have been looking forward to saving for Hong Lu's 000 Identity, and I have been telling myself that; 'Hey if I cannot get it now, maybe I can grind enough EGO Shards to get it next season!'. Guess not.

So my question is... Why don't they simply add an EGO Shard Exchange mechanic?
Much like how we exchange EGO Shard for Thread, we should be able to exchange EGO Shards for different EGO Shards with maybe a drawback if they want to make it harder.

For example; 2 Faust EGO Shards could be exchange for 1 Gregor EGO Shard and so on and so forth... I think it could be a decent middle ground alternative so people could at least manage to redeem an identity without spitting blood for it.

I would like having an option like that, or perhaps trading thread back to egoshards at a 2:1 or even 3:1 ratio. Trading egoshards if you happen to already have all identites/egos of a character would be much better than sitting on them and waiting until half of them simply meld into thread at the end of the season.

not that i'm against this mechanic, but 2 for 1 would still be a little to good because how drastically it reduces the value of yellow crates compared to red crates, I think 3 for 1 would be more fair. Especially because i've managed to buy 2 E.G.Os and 2 identities with the resources we have gotten so far. we've gotten plenty of crates to buy several stuff in the store, so i don't think "spitting blood" to buy characters or E.G.O's with shards is a fair statement to label it

Oh no, i meant with the crates we've gotten to complete the shards, not from basic pulls alone and such lol.

but yeah, a 3 for 1 transfer would be very nice, especially for players who don't care about certain sinners.

While i don't mind more QoL system like shard to shard (tho i probaly never use it).
The game seem encourage player to get identity you want by crate

You might not feel it as a new player but after finished BP ,everyone that buy BP pass got about 225 crates/month which could turn into around 450 any shard you like.

and this number come without even grinding for more

Btw, Tingtang will be temporary gone when SS2 start, prepare if you really want him.

I doubt that I can prepare enough Shards in time to get him before the season ends, I will try of course... But I do not plan on buying the BP.

Not everyone has the spare cash to drop on a BP, so I do not think a mechanic like this should be not completely disregarded as an option for F2P players.
It could really help as mentioned above even as a 3 to 1 ratio for people that do not want to invest money in the game and don't care for certain sinners.

What I don't get is why people are getting upset over that notice. It's always been a thing, it just seems weird to get upset now.

I dont get why people are so upset about the whole thing, you know that you only need 400 shards to spark right? leaving aside gacha which if you save for a hong lu banner, assuming you are unlucky for ting tang, you are most likely gonna get several copies of his 00's so that's already a source of shards, then weekly MD runs and RR and events, i have around 180 nominable boxes atm and have spent around 100 already, sparked once and that's without relying on the MD Grind at all (i havent even claimed the boxes from the 60+ battle pass yet)

The spark was R heathcliff btw, i managed to get myself around 200 shards first by pulling for N Heat and on his banner so i only had to spend 100ish nominable boxes to complete it.

Personally I started playing this game the past week and just saw the notice. If it was stated before I am sorry I had no idea, but I just saw it due to many people getting upset. Exchanging EGO Shards of sinners you don't want to get new identities for or that you have all of them isn't a bad idea. It helps people that joined in later or that didn't have enough time to grind throughout the seasons. I do not doubt that someone that has started early on, finished the BP and as such can have a very easy time... But why not also give a helping hand to people that start off later as well. I am not on core complaining about the EGO Shard halfing, it is what it is at the end of the day, but that doesn't mean that an exchange system would be bad to have.

I believe they should release one banner before S1 ends, it would be weird if they didnt since Hong Lu has one of the "Season 1" Identities going for him, also if you havent done RR or cant do it yet make sure to give it a shot before the month ends, you can get some boxes, pulls and even a ticket that lets you roll for season 1 id's, if your only want is tingtang then it might be a good idea to use it earlier before they add more units into the pool since i think it does guarantee a 000 unit.

Honestly im not sure if they will add a system like that the same way they wouldnt make a Sweep feature for MD nor allow Macros, While the game is nice enough to let you grind spark currency they want you to earn it, but even if you dont want to do any big grinds, im pretty sure just by doing daily missions/weekly MD you can get a lot of shards (moreso if you get the paid bp).

It still 100 boxs/month for free player.

If you considered learning mechanic hard way you might attempt to clear ch.3 and railway with base sinner.

RR is hard content and i doubt you could have proper team for it as you just start, but at least a guy prove it possible with base sinner.

Current RR give you 30 rolls and a guarantee SS1 000 with 25% chance for Hong Lu. (As there are only 4 000 identity in SS1)
