Random theory about Dante I've not seen (spoilers for previous games)
So, I had a random thought about Dante and the sinners that I've not really seen brought up around the place, might as well post this a couple of places to see if others have considered it:

Is Dante/Dantes head a container for an aberration of WhiteNight?

There's 12 sinners under the command of Dante, WhiteNight creates 12 apostles, with one being a "Heretic"

Dante can bring the sinners back to life, WhiteNight can bring the apostles back to life. In addition, WhiteNight could control the apostles and its mentioned by Faust and a couple of the Abno logs that Dante can influence the sinners actions in some way. (Heathcliff is angry about being sacrificed, but it implies that he physically couldn't protest at the time.

Vergilius has placed himself close to Dante, and despite doing very little for the group is watching over them. In Leviathan, his EGO seems to be an aberration of "One sin and thousands of good deeds" Which functioned like a passive counter to WhiteNight.

At the start of the game, Dante says he's "Engraving the ------" which could potentially function like WhiteNight engraving the names of the apostles onto its clock. And lastly, there is one thing, WhiteNight was really, REALLY powerful. In the opening, Dante says once he gets something "You'll be no match for my..."

Just something I noticed and the more I thought on it, the more of a pattern I picked up on.

Pretty cool theory

That's a pretty good theory. However there are 13 sinners, not 12.

I haven't seen many people mentionning it, but sinner #10 is missing. It goes from #9 Rodya to #11 Sinclair.

Of course it doesn't completely rule out your theory, as there could be a lore explanation for it, but i'm not completely convinced.

I think Dante is wielding a form of the Price of Silence E.G.O. personaly. It would fit the #13, and it would also explain the ability to rewind time for the sinners.

Dante is the #10, it written on his coat

Oh yeah, I considered a couple, even the fact that only the sinners can hear him, everyone else just hears ticking could be the "Silence" part

He could even be a relative of Backward Clock, though that might be a bit too obvious.
Its more a weird number of parallels. Even his current "human" form might be a plague-doctor equivalent.

That said... There's a reason I didn't flat out call him a distortion or EGO user. It might be a red herring, but even Dante seems to accept that its a prosthetic, when it was being crushed it only talks about the sound of the clock breaking, doesn't mention it bleeding or anything.

A different theory is that the clock-head is opening a portal to a distortion/abnormality and channeling that is what fuels the resurrection powers. There's still a few characters from the divine comedy that haven't been established in limbus, so it could be Beatrice or something.

I do still think that Vergilius having the EGO he does will matter in some capacity, even if not directly related to Dante. Its too conspicuous that out of everything his ego included a thorny laurel wreath.

Congratulations this post got me to actually go read Leviathan

Does sound like a good idea to follow. I avoided white night like the plague(lol) so the twelve apostles and the clock didn't even come to mind at all. I was much more distracted by thoughts about Price of Silence

I was gonna joke about Verigilius's EGO being called "one good deed and hundreds of sins" but that actually sounds like the way he views the life he lead. Well, kinda, at least through auto translating those last chapters.

The only issue I take with it ignoring how heavily it gets implied Dante might be a part of Garnet is that Dante himself is counted among the sinners as #10.

I wonder about relationship between sinner nationality? and organization

1 Korean / Hana / Yi Sang
2 German / Zwei / Faust
3 Spanish / Tres / Don Quixote
4 Japanese / Shi / Ryoshu
5 French / Cinq / Meursault
6 Chinese / Liu / Hong Lu
7 English? / Seven / Heathcliff
8 ? / ? /ishmael
9 Russian / ? / Rodion
10 Italian / ? / Dante
11 Swiss / Öufi / Sinclair
12 Greek / ? / Outis
13 ? / Ruina? / Gregor

There are 12 organization plus Gregor have 5 Library floor logo sealing his hand (default EGO.)

This is kinda weird honestly because according to the book Dante is supposed to be pure of sin, hence why he's allowed to enter Heaven at the end of the story

I couldn't remember Divine Comedy that much.
If it is at the end of book then current Dante shouldn't be pure of sin,
That should happen after he pass through the hell.

Should Read my divine comedy copy already. I saw the prologue and almost died when It mentioned Dante in a dark forest, and mentioned the animals.(Wolf,Panther and Lion). Exactly like the prologue for Limbus. I didn't read that part clearly so my description was vague, but I got hyped.

What I've understood from playing PM games, is that many things in characters' actions, personalities and even equipment are at least somehow related to their origins. Which, I believe, includes both Dante's clock head and the "Aspect" he tried to engrave in Prologue too. Haven't read Divine Comedy, though, so can't say much about it.

It's also difficult to theorize about Dante's head right now, because we don't know what it is exactly. 100% sure it's not a Distortion, but it's also too specific for E.G.O. or a prostethic, since it could link to 12 people Dante couldn't possibly know about, as well as revive them and somehow extract their alternate IDs.
