Although I don't believe there is going to be any hard shipping or romance between any of the sinners in the main story. Maybe there will be some stuff in side stories or ID stories. Undeniably, there is a concerted effort to pair Heathcliff and Ishmael by someone over at project moon. They have almost entirely shared IDs and seem to interact with each other the most of any other sinners. They only have 1 ID each that isn't a shared theme, and they direct team members in the Shi association. There is also no reason that Ismael needs to be in the E.G.O. ID set they are releasing now. It could have been almost any of the other sinners as most need a 5 ID.

There's plenty of reasons. Ishmael is the only sinner along with Yisang who never received a new identity in season 1.

Plus Sloshing matches that whole melted arm look she had in canto iv part 1.
