Might be also they gather rain and concentrate it and nanomachines being a sham.... Or maybe not a sham and it is like farm and there are nanomachines K corp collects from rain as biproduct (heck maybe they even use clouds to cultivate proper number of nanomachines as insecure as it seems due to high chance of big losses and clouds drifting or just raining but we do not know limits of technologies in the city so who knows maybe they can control weather locally enough).
In any case I doubt K corp has something to do with Child of the Galaxy. At least directly... Considering that Abnormality is fragment of subconsciousness, tales believes and experiences distorted by person carrying it. The Child of the Galaxy might be related to that book but could be just creation of someone living in the K corp nest or outskirts, or someone familiar with the legend.
