Stuck at Canto IV
I've gotten stuck once before at the start of Canto IV before being helped out by some friends and using their lvl. 35 N-Corp Sinclair as a support, but now I'm stuck again even with the support.

All of my guys are level 23 or under, with the lvl. 35 Sinclair and a lvl. 31 R-Corp Ishmael being the only exceptions. Does this mean I just have to grind until I can get them all to a reasonable level, like 30, before I can try progressing the story again?

That being said, is the only way to grind them to just spam EXP luxcavation? It seems repetitive and somewhat time-consuming considering I'll have to wait for my enkephalin to recharge (10 hours per 100 enkephalin) each time. I mean, if that's the case I'll definitely try (nothing can be more grindy and time-consuming than Lobotomy Corp. and LoR right?) but I do wonder if that's what I'm intended to do or if there's something I'm missing.

Yeah, Canto 4 is a pretty big difficulty spike. Wait till you hit 4-48 man, that ♥♥♥♥'s going to be rough. The best you can do is level up your egos and yeah, exp luxcavation seems to be the fastest way to do it (although the battle pass can also get you some exp items so depending on whether you're paid or free, and where you are in the pass, you might be better off doing a mirror dungeon). Also, while you're at it, make sure you level up yi sang in particular. I just hit the dungeon at the end and they specified that he absolutely has to participate in fights, and you can't use an alternate identity for him, it has to be his base ID, so make sure he's in fighting shape, along with the rest of your sinners.

edit: Nevermind on the yi sang bit, it looks like in the dungeon you get a version of him that's automatically leveled to 35, that's a lot nicer than I expected

EXP luxcavation is the only consistent means to grab exp for IDs.

I cleared it with IDs around lvl ~25-27. You don't need 35 (The grind for XP is very steep between getting to 30 to 35, it feels like).

If you're strapped for modules to run the luxcavation, you can refill with Lunacy, or just wait. Log in from time to time to convert the automatic accumulation.

It's too late for you, but what I did when I went through the story (Canto 1 all the way to end of Canto 4) is always convert enkephalin to at least a module so I was always recharging during the story. Any level ups that brought me over the maximum, I converted the extra until I was charging again.

I ended up only needing to lunacy-recharge once at the end of Canto 4 (There's a lot of fight squares) and had enough modules to grind out xp tickets when I ended up in a similar situation as you.

One note is that your chosen IDs should all be Uptied to 3 for Canto 4, so you have access to their Skill 3 and passives (Not to mention the slight power boost). And a lot of stuff in Canto 4 is weak to blunt, so having IDs to major in that damage type will help. I admit not having bothered much with resistances at that stage, just damage potential.

Funnily enough, that's the one I'm stuck on lol

Yeah... I realized I kinda messed up since I could have been stocking up on modules from the beginning instead of having to grind for them now.
I have uptied all of my IDs that I use to 3 and some to 4, so those shouldn't be too much of a problem. I just have to grind for levels now

Personally, that boss is the first 'puzzle' boss I've seen in the game so far, it was a lot of fun.

You're at the wall then. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ RIP. That fight is really tough. The only reason I cleared it was because I lucked out and got molar boatworks ishmael. That fight feels like it's pretty explicitly designed to ♥♥♥♥ over large groups, so soloing the fight feels like the way to go, and fishmael's dodge lets her deal with most of that boss's attacks.

If you use 26 lunacy daily to refill your enkephalin you can basically double what you get out of a single game session, doing that for a week means you lose out on 182 lunacy, something you get back and more whenever maintenance/updates comes around basically weekly and you get 300 lunacy from it.

You can use the extra enkephalin to spam more EXP Luxcavations, or when you're done with the leveling and story use them to play more mirror dungeons for crates, or stock up on enkephalin modules

Totally forgot about this, thank you! This means if I tried it's probably possible to get them all to level 30 in a single day. Already pretty much half-way there at this point so it's looking good

Thank you and thank you to everybody else who helped! I finally killed her today after two days of attempts thanks to your tips. Sunshower EGO Heath helped a lot in the fight which makes me wonder why I didn't try to use him before. All of the clashes were stressful as hell cuz I was always just barely winning any of them at the start, with the tides seemingly able to turn on me at any moment. Once her sanity was lowered enough though and I realized I could make use of her weakness to Pride affinity it was pretty smooth from there- I think I killed her in less than 10 turns. Thanks again!

Best to use it if Positive-Enkephalin Capacity is 150. Use Positive-Enkephalin Boxes instead.

Gonna run out of boxes eventually, and 150 capacity is going to take many months before you reach it, more so if you don't refill enkephalin to do more stuff to get more Manager exp. Been here since launch and I'm only at 131.

Canto IV is balanced with your chars around lvl 27 and above.
Build up or borrow following 3 units:
Kurokumo Hong Lu & R Cliff & 7 Sang (With all EGOs if You can). They will help you at the end.
Btw: you can min-max lunacy usage with one refill per 5 stages.
