is this game pay-to-win?

Just asking before I try it out, don't want to put time into learning the tutorial and getting invested just to realize that I can't progress past a certain point without spending fifty bucks on micro-transactions.

everything can be done with the base units, and those units get upgraded (uptier) each time you finish a story chapter, most grind you'd engage if you never touch the gacha is the xp grind so your units are on par with the story levels, and even so, some mad lads have done the story segments with units 5 to 10 levels bellow recommended

u wont have to worry about progression, u can do it all on base ids. but the hard mirror dungeon is prob gonna ask a couple of 000 characters to beat reliably so its up to you if you think its worth picking up now.

better now than later tho the longer you wait the more free content u miss out on. (there is a lot of it)

Well, I've completed all current content, and I've spent 20 bucks (the two battle passes). So 50's not necessary, at least.

And I'm pretty sure I could've gotten this far with zero spending too. Maybe a bit more grinding, sure, but still. There's perfectly good ways to earn the currencies by playing. It's convenience and wanting to throw out a few bucks to keep the game going for me, but I'm no Rockefeller who can whale out on every package available.

As complete F2P, it will be harder to get specific IDs without saving for banners.
But the paid BP, provided you play MD at least the 3 times a week, can easily just set you up for a while because of how insane over-leveling is.

if you play arknight, the Golden E.G.O shards box is the same as that.

There's also Library of Ruina, the more immediate sequel. This one is more like expanded universe.

Not needed, the game start with Dante who lose his memory during the prologue so he basically know ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about the City now and learning everything from beginning
