potential lawsuits and further controversy? not sure what you mean by remaking wonderlab, if you mean redrawing the entire comic with the same plot, mimi will definitely sue. WL wasn't like leviathan where PM wrote the story and mimi just drew the comic, mimi wrote the entire comic herself and created all of the designs from the people to the abnos. white lake was even one of her old OCs, repurposed into an abno for the comic.

you can kind of tell with how all of the abnos have a fairy-tale bend instead of PM's usual mix of abno types, since mimi designed them all.

wasnt a fan of the art and it had really weird pacing it didnt help that there wasnt really a "goal" to reach but Catt,Taii did end up growing on me, but i hate the scaredy cat design.

about the controversial part i remember hearing that she was contracted because the director liked her work, i also find weird how many people try to defend her blindly when she is kind of a known sperg who admitted to have already been blacklisted from two other companies

as for blindly defending, don't think anybody is defending mimi "blindly" in this. my personal standpoint is that WL was OK, a little ham-fisted but a decent side-read; mimi made the comic herself and therefore has the rights to take down the comic, so everybody complaining that she didn't is just being entitled; and her preemptive aggression at taking WL down everywhere probably wasn't the best move, but it's hardly criminal and doesn't warrant the harassment she's getting. remember that before this, she decided to leave WL up with PM after the last 2 drama incidents that happened, yet it's only now that people are now acting like she's a nutcase for finally acting and de-associating her work with PM after how they handled the controversy. so it really seems like people are just attacking her with association politics and character smearing, bc she dared to defy PM.

i don't condone harrasment my main gripe with this is that while i agree she has the rights to copyright and made the story i understand she was paid for it do correct me if im wrong if it was purely a collaboration so it seems unjust for one party to decide what is done with the work especially if it was the one being the contrated

afaik, nobody is privy to the details about who owns what or if mimi even got paid for WL, but mimi has stated that she owns the copyright and PM didn't hesitate to take it down when she asked. if PM had more rights to the webcomic, you'd think they'd put in more effort to keep a work that's part of their franchise - but i digress. perhaps this is a textbook example of the virtues of having a proper legal department, if PM made yet another bad move concerning how they handle their hires on a legal/professional level. PM's strat up until this point was to dodge all the nuts and bolts of being a proper company with PR team, legal team, QA team, by hiring fans and using the community's good will to protect them from getting screwed over. even mimi let WL stay up the first two times she didn't like how the fandom / company handled the use of her comic, until the vellmori firing happened.

As far as I can tell this really shouldn't be controversial, the artist didn't want to be associated with PM anymore, and PM respected their decision by declaring they wouldn't publish WL anymore.
