Chains around a sinner's portrait?

Does that mean something? I noticed some gold chains around 000 Gregor and 000 Yi Sang After upping their tier, looking back I also saw them around every basic sinner after they passed certain level, does that signify anything special or is it just a "look, new info is unlocked" prompt?

the chains denote being Uptied to tier 2, at tier three there's a different effect

Oh, I noticed the basic sinners went from chains to some root looking thing, thanks, one more thing, basic sinners uptier with chapters?

If so it seems better to use the basic ones untill i get the 00 and 000 ones tier 3

Correct, the basic Sinners (and their Zayin default EGOs) uptie after clearing chapters (though I'm not sure what's offered after Ch3 since Upties cap at 3)

I would assume uptier materials, but might as well be nothing but extra currency, again, thanks for the answer.

From what I've read, it's better to spend the thread uptiering any EGO you get, as at the moment, it takes a bit too much to get that tier 3 00/000, and only the really good ones a worth it over upgrading EGO.
Granted, it's early enough that we probably don't have a good grasp on the game yet.

You don't get any special rewards for completing chapter 3 as of right now.
