Guns are quite uncommon in the setting since they're very expensive to buy and use, currently there's only one other gun using ID (R-corp Heathcliff) but more will almost certainly come

In lore, the Head, the City's rulers, made an "Ethics Law" that makes guns prohibitively expensive to acquire and keep armed, so that's why guns are rare.

It's possible, though. R Corp's already here.
There's also the The Thumb, an entire Syndicate that manufactures its own ammo and use bayonets for melee.
Their shtick is being very respectful, but also draconiously hierarchical, as in they will rip your tongue out if you speak to a superior without permission.

there was also a point made in LoR that guns were less effective then melee in general too. dont remember the exact reason for it though

'Cuz Fixers augmented to hell and back.
Some of them are so augmented they can just straight up deflect gunfire.

IIRC it's common for skilled opponents to be able to deflect or dodge bullets, so having the one trick of a gun is a problem when it doesn't work

I think this could be a good time for PM to show more in game lore with introducing us to new offices that use guns specifically, like Full stop office. Perhaps even identities of gun manufacturer themselves. Would be really fun! (Esp for Meursault hahaha)

not just the gun, but the bullets too, if buying a gun make you poor, constant usage of bullet will give you generations long debt

Now I want Aterlier Logic IDs. Or YuRia Workshop.

Let's not forget Smiling Faces and Leaf Workshop though. Something funny about getting high while beating people to death.

Yeah... Not to mention we'll probably meet finger members(Excited about meeting Middle and Pinky Members!!) And other Syndicate groups!! Also want any office/people that use Bio-weapons to appear here...(They're really cool..)

I feel like guns would become less useful as more chapters come out and the difficulty/health increases of enemies meaning the fights go on for longer, making guns less viable overall. Just an assumption tho.

eh that really is more dependent on the kit and what they do with the ammo mechanic. could def see a character possibly getting a way to restore ammo or just have a higher starting capacity or just have a mix of ammo using and non ammo using skills like 00 ish
SummonerPrime Mar 9, 2023 @ 9:54pm
true, but the issue would be with previous characters like LC Ish and R-corp Heath, who cannot restore ammo efficiently and would fall off quickly, assuming they get 0 changes (which is unlikely).

While it'd be neat if they got changes directly, there's also nothing preventing another Identity coming with a reload support passive.

eh theyd just have their own places they shine like dungeons. i dunno about ish cuz i havent used her 00 id but R corp heathcliff is almost always my top damage dealer in mirror dungeon auto grind typically dealing about 30-40% of the total damage. (team comp is always 000 gregor, 000 ryushu, and 000 heathcliff then i try to pick up tingting or ncorp meur) dungeons are an important environment to consider, you cant just base it off story stages being long because each ch has a dungeon

That is true, however mirror dungeons are easy anyways, any group of 00 or 000 identities can usually clear it assuming you have them all uptied. Plus I dont think it would be wise to ever run more than 2 ammo based characters just incase you run out of ammo. Of course using R corp heath would make it much faster. However I still think speed doesnt matter when you only need to do 5 a week and doing anymore than that would just run you out of modules eventually. Not to mention the different types of bosses they may add to the mirror dungeons in the future who would have larger healthbars, and more phases.
