Why create a new character when you can:
1. Stuff a chick into a character that was established over 30 years ago.
2. Reduce any feature or quality that can be confused as soft or feminine
3. Attach a slightly more masculine female voice to the personality of a stereotypical alpha male.
4. Sit back and pretend you're creative when in reality all of you've done is create division by demonstrating the "importance" you see in the immutable qualities that no one has any control over, and the insignificance you see in any quality that a person does have control over. Why else make the changes? This is clearly the belief system many developers have chosen to adopt.
5. Then when it's inevitably called out by people, deepen the divide even further by lazily and baselessly labeling them as some kind of -ist instead of taking a moment to assess what you're doing, or at the very least trying to understand why these arguments are being made without assuming they're indicative of some brand of hate.
