What this website is likely doing is using other sites that estimate how many copies were sold for diffrent consoles then also has something that checks twitch numbers like how many is streaming the game to find an estimate number the number can be off by a few thousand

The twitch stream numbers are separate from the active players. They were pretty clear on that.

Remember the steam stats often don't count players with private profiles. There could be 10k MK players right now with private profiles that are invisible on steam stats.
